So I have been convinced that there must be a God, but before I commit to a religion I would lie one question answered which I don't quite understand.

So this is a question similar to ones many people considering religion have wondered. Basically, why does God tell us of his existence and what he wants of us through prophets? If it were some more undeniable way, like if in a way everyone understands, in the sky was written 'God is real.' This is significant because, without significant proof many will go to hell.

Furthermore, how is it fair to send people to hell if all of their wrongdoing was only ever done through ignorance, and God never stopped them. He just watched the wrongdoing, never warned the person, but after death it's a massive punishment.

I'd be very grateful if this were explained to me. Thank you.

God wants us to seek Him.

because while that may be the case, it doesn't relate to the second question. Having thought about it, that would answer the first, but I would then need an explanation as to why God wants us to seek him.
Oh okay.
God wants us to seek Him because that is who is spiritually inclined instead of only wanting to please the flesh with sin.

That is good that you have been convinced of that which the heavens declare: that there is a God.

Now there are many religions but one faith.

Now there are many religious but one relationship with the Father thru His Son.

Many religions require a member to earn their way to their next destination after this life.

We aren't good enough to earn eternal life. No not even one. But we are bad enough to deserve eternal damnation.

Are you convinced of your disease and thusly desire the cure?

Do you know that we all fall short of the glory of God because we all have sinned and are shapened in iniquity?

Square up with the 10 commandments and judge yourself if you have transgressed God's law.

If you humble yourself by acknowledging that you are under His wrath because of your sin the only thing you can do is throw yourself at the mercy of the Judge.

Thankfully God is rich in mercy and desires none to perish. And He's made a way that He can release you from the penalty of sin legally and justly. For God so loved the world that He send His only begotten Son who said "it is finished" as His last words on the cross meaning the debt has been paid!!

Therefore what you need to do is Repent and believe the gospel. That good news that while we were sinners Christ died for us!

Don't trust in yourself but put your trust in Jesus Christ the Son of God.

That's the best I've got. And I humbly submit this post and hope it nudged you the right way.

You will get as many different answers to this question as there are people. Even the meaning of Heaven/ Hell itself. Or where it is even at.

You should not be looking for conversion from the outside, but conviction from the inside. For this is where our God is! Within! For our God is Spirit. And those that Genuinely worship, do so and speak so, in/from the Spirit and Truth! ;
Neither made of elements seen with(in) the spectrum of what our eyes are capable of seeing. So the only physical evidence you will receive, is from within yourself, or from within another that manifest outwardly. From darkness to light! A Life Changed! Or a New Live given! For no other reason, than a Name that came to them!

So I will come from a different angle…

Prophets were those individuals who were so intune with the divine within, and empty of the ego, that they were able to be used to guide Humanity towards a Harmony and Peace. Be it individually or collectively. It has since taken on a movement of its own, as they are many false ones out there. Even way back in the OT.

Humanity has only recently understood the Human body and how it works. Albeit only a small percentage! They don’t even begin to know the Spiritual aspect, which is where Prophets come in.

It is said in the Scriptures, that the Spirit was poured out for all, to be taught by God himself, according to what was to be given for Israel.

So just like a baby Grows(or evolves) From an infant, not aware of itself or another, but simply sensations, to a child- aware of others, to an adolescent- aware of others and themselves, to an adult- aware of themselves, others and the collective, even beyond…..So goes the collective as a whole….

As a collective, we are about the stage of a child. Aware of others. And sensations. Coming into adolescence, becoming aware of ourself, and the collective.

So just like a child needs a parent(guardian) for guidance and sustenance, so also humanity needs guidance Spiritually(dual nature), which is where the prophets come in. But we are at a point in our evolution(or growing up), where we need not another man to speak for God. As to Know yourself, (self-awareness) inside and out(to perceive and be aware) is to know God, and be able to be lead by such.

“Taught by God himself”….As this is where our God is, and where the relationship is. We are simply to share it with each other. But we are still trying to lean this and follow through.

As far as heaven and hell, I certainly have the explanation that I have come to understand. Which is so very different from the rest, that I get ridiculed by most for it. But I will say this….
My God is a God of Love. And in this Love is Forgiveness, Mercy, and Grace. The only Judgment that comes from my God, is the discernment of things within our nature, that need be tempered and changed, for our health and the health of others. And the only suffering that has been placed upon us, is the flesh we live in, and struggle with daily. Which will be by choice. As this is never overstepped. Which for me personally, has been hellish. Torture even. Which my God has been here every step of the way, releasing the pain and anguish that comes with it. Even when I wasn’t aware of it.

So I would personally suggest you ask why one’s believes in their Particular God, and listen from within, instead of “shopping” around for a Religion, trying to be converted, for then man has your mind, instead of God having your heart! It literally makes a -World- of difference; how you see it, and how you live in it! Which should come to a point of being in the world physically, but not apart of it spiritually. Balanced! No more duality, as the Two become 1:)

Good luck on your journey! And may you learn to listen from within, and learn to be guided by it! You will find Truth, and it will set you free, in every direction!

So I have been convinced that there must be a God, but before I commit to a religion I would lie one question answered which I don't quite understand.
Commit in the Bible does not always mean "I will do it" like a man's commitment mean. Commit can mean "entrust" or to roll the burden unto another whereas in this case, believe in Jesus Christ for all things and not just for salvation.

John 6:28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent....

37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Although the Catholics have turned Christianity into a religion, and even Billy Graham's altar call to gain assurance of salvation by making a commitment to follow Christ, the gospel of Jesus Christ is about believing in Him for eternal life and for Him to deliver you from your sins so sin will not have dominion over you any more, and then after salvation, believing in Him as your Good Shepherd to keep you from your sins so you can follow Him so that your joy may be full..

So do not look to yourself in making a commitment to Christ, but rather learn of Him and His words to you to look to and believe in Jesus Christ in what He is committed to you for doing; that by believing in Him as your Saviour, He saves you and then afterwards by believing in Him to be your Good Shepherd, He will help you to abide in Him & His words in the KJV in following Him as His disciple in living that reconciled relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
So this is a question similar to ones many people considering religion have wondered.
Religion is what man can do. The Jews, God's chosen people, had that chance to do it in obtaining salvation and making themselves good by the deeds of the law but failed and the whole point of that is for them to look to God to do what the Jews could not do by the Old Covenant. This is why the New Covenant came as this New Covenant is God's turn now. All He asks from us is to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ & that God has raised Him from the dead.

Once saved by having believed in Him, we can trust Him as our Good Shepherd to help us to follow him, laying aside every weight ( provision for the flesh ) & sin daily in walking in the light in fellowship with the Father & the Son.
Basically, why does God tell us of his existence and what he wants of us through prophets? If it were some more undeniable way, like if in a way everyone understands, in the sky was written 'God is real.' This is significant because, without significant proof many will go to hell.
God the Father knows who is seeking Him from those that are not, but prefer their evil deeds rather than come to the light to be reproved of them.

John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

His word to us is that all those who seek, shall find.

Matthew 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

We see this in the early church ministry in the Book of Acts how God knew who would receive the gospel from those that are not looking at all.

Acts 16:6 Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,
7 After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.
8 And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas.
9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.
10 And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.

The sad truth is many sinners in the world are not looking, unless they come face to face with a loss of a loved one or facing a terminal illness or dying from an accident, but if they have opportunity before they die and that is to believe in Him to be saved, He will save them. However, death can happen at any moment & quickly too, just as sin has a way of getting worse and worse in the life of a sinner and so by procrastinating, they may not even consider calling on Him to save them when death comes even though they put it off willingly because they want to "live" which usually means doing whatever they want for pleasure and fun, living on and by impulses rather than discretion and abstinence.

Thanks to the false science called the evolution theory, many are not seeking God at all even though creation all testify to a Grand Designer and not some occurrence from random chance,.

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

1 Timothy 6:20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
Furthermore, how is it fair to send people to hell if all of their wrongdoing was only ever done through ignorance, and God never stopped them. He just watched the wrongdoing, never warned the person, but after death it's a massive punishment.

I'd be very grateful if this were explained to me. Thank you.
You are seeking God.

Pray and ask the Father to reveal His Son to you so you can believe in Him to be saved and may you find that the Good News is not a religion but a reconciled relationship with God that is lived by trusting in Jesus Christ for all things.

Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.
27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Hello Loroner,
Do not ponder questions in your head. Just pray.

John 14:6 - Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me

Acts 2:21 - and it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Romans 10:9-10 - 9 that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

I would agree his interpretation reflected that , that the hope of Gods will be done.

But surely those who are not spiritually inclined can be, they just need to be taught.

That reminded me of the John 10 account when the Pharisees accused Jesus the Son of man of blasphemy a mere man saying he is God . Mankind spirit being clothed in flesh

We therefore can be taught spiritual things not seen . It the kind of religion God sets his good seal of approval on .

John 10:34-36King James Version Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

So I have been convinced that there must be a God, but before I commit to a religion I would lie one question answered which I don't quite understand.

Here are some evidence, but first the necessity for Christ to die for our sins.

Sin has separated us from God and is driving us as sinners further and further away from Him to hell where the absence of all that is good and of God is at and eventually the lake of fire which is the second death; eternal, separation from God and all that is good.

So when our Creator and our Redeemer hung on the cross taking our sins upon Himself this was reflected in His creation as the light from the sun & the full moon went out for 3 hours as the Son experienced that separation from God the Father because He was made sin for us so that we may be made the righteousness of God in Him.

Matthew 27:45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

2 Corinthians 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

So being married to Jesus Christ is the best analogy He can provide for how we are reconciled to God through Jesus Christ in reuniting with Him that fellowship that was broken because of sin. There is no metaphor to describe just how close we have been made with God now thanks to Jesus Christ. Him being the Bridegroom testify to just how much we have been reconciled to God through Jesus Christ so that sin cannot sow doubt as to how close we really are to God now.

Darkness at the crucifixion: metaphor or real history?

Is there historical evidence for the darkness & earthquake at the crucifixion?

A real historical parable the signified prophecy that uses metaphors . . . the things seen the temporal, to give us the un-seen The 20/20 prescription. The eternal understanding brings light to the dark looking glass we have the perfect or complete no longer in part. .

It seems you are focusing on one of the three days and nights demonstrations . Looking at them as a whole can improve the understanding as a whole . The garden of Gethsemane demonstration is my favorite then they moved to the hill or cross the bloody demonstration and finally the tomb .

2 Corthians 4: 16-18 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Mathew 27:50-53 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Basically, why does God tell us of his existence and what he wants of us through prophets?
Mankind is damaged. (Severely damaged.) Were God to directly reveal Himself to you, you would most likely die. A prophet is one who has suffered through tremendous travail in order to hear the RHEMA-voice of God. Not all people could withstand such suffering without losing faith. Would you renounce your deep beliefs to avoid being crucified? Could you withstand the pain of crucifixion? Most people could not.

But the time of the prophets as exemplified in the OT is over. Rather than continuing to send prophets, God has sent His Son, Jesus, the Messiah to teach the Truth that had been lost. These teachings, for the most part, have been written down (See Matthew 5 and Luke 6), but the goal is for all this to be written upon our hearts by what we know of as the Holy Spirit.

The question you need to answer is, who is Jesus? (And I'm saddened that you've not returned.)

(Matthew 16:13 KJV) When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

Yet this is not a choice you can make.

(Matthew 16:15-17 KJV) He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

If you now believe that there is a God, then ask Him to reveal His Son to you. Then at some point, God will speak to you directly as you so desire.

like if in a way everyone understands, in the sky was written 'God is real.'
Mankind is damaged. (Severely damaged.) Even to the point where Jesus taught this:

(Luke 16:31 KJV) And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

And yet, that is our "skywriting." Jesus was Resurrected from the dead.

(Acts 2:32 KJV) This Jesus hath God Resurrected, whereof we all are witnesses.

For what reason? As proof that his teachings were True and Righteous. So what are we to do?

(Acts 2:37-38 KJV) Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Again, there's your "skywriting" - ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. It's a "pearl of great price." And once you receive this, you'll know. I mean really know.

Blessings,
Rhema
