Our inner cup and plate..

Dear brothers and sisters,

As Christians it can be so easy for us to clean up nice on the outside but totally ignore the ways within us, as a result, not representing Jesus Christ.

Please read and meditate on Luke 11:37-41, When Jesus had finished speaking, a Pharisee invited Him to eat with him; so He went in and reclined at the table. But the Pharisee, noticing that Jesus did not first wash before the meal, was surprised. Then the Lord said to him, "Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness. You foolish people! Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also? But give what is inside the dish to the poor, and everything will be clean for you."

Notice Jesus is an "invited guest" and how He speaks to the Pharisees at "their table"? I find this interesting and would like to learn your shared views on this.

This piece of scripture is from the Six Woes in the book of Luke but my point of this passage is for all of us, being in unity of Jesus Christ and His church, to spend time in prayer and ask God to work on the inner cup and plate within each of us. For example, compromising morals and integrity when noone is watching, anger, jealousy, greed, selfishness, getting the last word with another Christian, keeping score on other's short comings..

It all falls under the category of boasting at our best and its from our inner cup which will expose being proud and eventually tarnish the outward of ourselves.

We can find comfort that when we confess our sins daily and repent, we can also ask God to work on cleansing the inside of our cup and plate. Then trust Him. Others who already know you will see a difference in you, or many who will cross your path for the first time will see something different about you. The plate is our offering to the poor, but also to those we are called to serve in our families, church, our communities, and the many new faces you will see daily and only once in your lifetime. When He transforms you don't just put it away in the drawer but constantly seek Him in this area for it is a lifetime process.

Awesome thread Bob thanks for sharing. Yes, this is very important. Also, as for Jesus being the invited guest - true but also and originally the other way around - GOD created us and invited us to HIS family

It is a good thing to recognize truth about one's self.

How very truthful Bob for it is written:

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:23

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Matthew 7:3

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1John 1:8

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Phil 2:3

Dear Chad, Yeshua, brothers and sisters,

No matter what we are doing daily for our Father, we must start with exalting God first, communing with Him, before we get on with our Walk reaching out to others. The job, school, at home moms and dads, ministry to others, that is secondary and His hand will be upon us in these areas.
