What do we need to know about God? God Loves us and wants to have a personal Relationship with him.

God Loves us even if we haven't loved him
."In this love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us". (1 John 4:10)

God wants us to know him.
The Bible says God is at work in everyone’s life. "So that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us." (Acts 17:27)

What is Wrong with us? Our Relationship with God has been Broken by sin.

We have all made choices showing we are inclined to be:

Passively indifferent to God "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, evey one, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all." (Isaiah 53:6)

Or actively opposed to God "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved Darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed." (John 3:19-20)

The result of our choices to resist or ignore God results in spiritual Death (Separation from God). "We are dead in trespasses and sins." (Ephesians 2:1)"And thus death spread to all men, because all sinned." (Romans 5:12).

What did God do for us? God has provided a solution for our lost relationship.

Jesus Christ came to do what we could not do for ourselves "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

He came into the world to bring us to his father
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

He died in our place to pay the penalty for our sin "For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit" (1st Peter 3:18)

He rose from the dead to show that his claims were true
"For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep." (1 Corinthians 15:3-6)

What do we need to do? We must each personally trust Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior

Our own efforts to earn God's acceptance are inadequate "he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit" (Titus 3:5)

We must admit our need for Forgiveness "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God",(Romans 3:23) "But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.' (Luke 18:13)

We must receive Christ and his offer of salvation as a gift "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" (John 1;12) "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Where do we begin? A Personal Relationship with God Begins Today

You can begin your personal relationship with God by putting your faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord. You may find it helpful to express your new faith in words similar to these:

Dear God, I know that my sin has separated me from You.
Thank You for sending Your son to die in my place. I now trust Jesus to forgive my sins. I invite Him into my life as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for receiving me into Your eternal family. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

What next? Your trust in Jesus Christ Begins an Everlasting Personal Relationship with God

God's Commitment to you:

God assures you that if you have trusted Jesus as your savior, He has given you eternal life "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life."(1 John 5:13)

God promises to never leave you.
"Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."(Hebrews 13:5)

God has forgiven all of your sins, past, present and future. "When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross." (Colossians 2:13-14)

God has given you His Spirit to enable you to live in a way that pleases Him. " If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit." (Galatians 5:25)

Awesome post hadirfuss! I am thinking about giving my mom the link for this site and hoping that she will come and fellowship and grow in God. She was talking with me the other night and was telling me that she is realizing that He is our hope and our strength in every way of life.I have made her a cd so far hoping that she can listen to it and that she can come to know and accept Him as Lord and Savior of her life.

Rom_1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

This is the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST and only way to Salvation .

1Co 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
1Co 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

This confirms it HIS gospel and the only way to salvation.

Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

How to do you trust in Jesus? I want to but i dont know how...

There are different levels of trust and faith. It doesn't take a lot of faith. ( Matt 17:20; Luke 17:6; )
At one level it's trusting Him to be your Savior.
Do you believe you're a sinner, have you confessed your sins and repented of them?
Have you asked Jesus into your life? By that, I mean do you pray with Him, converse with Him,
consult with Him about decisions in your life? Allow Him to be the guiding force that leads you through life.

So do you trust Him to forgive your sins and give you eternal life? (This is the basis for salvation)

But after you've been saved for a while.
Do you trust Him to help you make the right decisions, even when they aren't what you want to do, or even when they are difficult.
Even when there is peer pressure from un-saved people to do other things? Do you trust God to take care of you, even when things are difficult?
Perhaps you are out of work, your wife and children have left you, perhaps your friends and family have disowned you.
Perhaps you are struggling with (pornography, alcohol, drugs, sexual relationships, etc..) do you trust Jesus to help you out of those lifestyles?
A lot of it is just believing Jesus will be there for you through the storms of life. Sometimes the harder part for some Christians is maintaining
this relationship with Him when the skies are blue and seas are calm. We forget that we still need Him even things are going good.
Do you trust Him to tell you where to live? Who to date or marry? Where to go to church? What job to take? Even when things aren't
so bad we need Him to help us through life. Do you trust Him?

I am reminded of a sign I saw on a church once. It said "Is Jesus your steering wheel or your spare tire?"
Maybe if we listened to Him about which road to take, we wouldn't have gotten the flat tire? That's not
to say that "flat tires" won't still happen sometimes. But when they do, who do you turn to?

Wow that was beautiful when you saw the sign," is Jesus your steering wheel or your spare tire." Has me thinking...

Your statements that have no quotes from the scriptures are not found within any of scripture, "a relationship with God"
What do we need to know about God? God Loves us and wants to have a personal Relationship with him.
Can you show us ( from the scriptures) where it says "a personal relationship with God" to be saved.

This verse does not imply that God is "at work in everyone's life. The lost are separated from knowing God through unbelief.
Only through faith in the gospel of Christ can they know God.
2 Thessalonians 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

What is Wrong with us? Our Relationship with God has been Broken by sin.
Again a statement that is not backed up with scripture is not truth.

The rest of this post is "cherry picking" verses out of context.

We have all made choices showing we are inclined to be:
Passively indifferent to God
