Troy a servant of God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter--
Matt 10:2 (KJV)

If Peter was going to be a good leader, Jesus knew he also needed to have right attitudes. First, he would need to learn submission because leaders can be domineering. When tax agents demand a two-drachma temple tax from the Lord, He order Peter to catch a fish that would have a stater coin-----exactly enough to pay the taxes for both Jesus and Peter (Matthew 17:14-27). From this Peter learned to submit to both secular and divine authority:

Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
1 Peter 2:13-15,17(KJV)

Peter also needed to demonstrate restraint. When the crowd arrived in the garden to arrest Jesus, Peter drew his sword and began to resist. Jesus promptly told him to stop and allow God`s plan to work (John 18:10-11).

Third, Peter neede a large portion of humility. Shortly after he boasted that his loyalty would never waver (Matthew 26:33), Peter denied Christ three times. Years later he learned the lesson about pride and humility: Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble
1 Peter 5:5 (KJV)

Amen
