"The ark of God remained with the household of Obed-edom in his house for 3 months, and the Lord blessed the household and all that he had." I Chronicles 3:13
We are told in the Old Testament of the Bible that a very special ark was built during the exodus of the Israelites. It was a container which held the Ten Commandments and symbolized the covenant of God with His people. The lid of the ark was called the mercy seat, where the presence of God resided. It was made of pure gold with two cherubs at its two ends, facing each other; wings outspread, overshadowing the seat. When David became King of Israel he decided to bring this ark to Jerusalem. A disobedience to the specific instructions about moving of the ark occurred. A man died because of it and David was angry and afraid. He then decided to leave the ark with the household of Obed-edom, where it resided for 3 months. During that time we are told the Lord especially blessed this man's household and all that he had.
Between the wings of the cherubim was where the Lord resided. Today, symbolically, I pray the ark will reside in my heart and my home. I pray that, like Obed-edom, our household and all we have would be especially blessed with His mercy, grace, forgiveness of sins, and power through the Holy Spirit.
I pray it for you and your family, also. The key to God residing in one's heart is acceptance of Jesus as His son, and our Lord. If you have not done this, please consider doing so today. It will have a profound impact on your life; I promise!
