powerful faith declaration of a martyr

During an extremely difficult time in Zimbabwe it was very risky to be identified as a Christian. A young unknown African pastor in 1990 was killed for his faith. Later investigations found his papers in his humble home in Zimbabwe after he was martyred. One of his papers included what has become one of the clearest declarations of true faithfulness to Christ ever written.

“I'm a part of the fellowship of the unashamed. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I'm a disciple of His and I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still.

My past is redeemed. My present makes sense. My future is secure. I'm done and finished with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap living, and dwarfed goals.

I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don't have to be right, or first, or tops, or recognized, or praised, or rewarded. I live by faith, lean on His presence, walk by patience, lift by prayer, and labor by Holy Spirit power.

My face is set. My gait is fast. My goal is heaven. My road may be narrow, my way rough, my companions few, but my guide is reliable and my mission is clear.

I will not be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded or delayed.

I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice or hesitate in the presence of the adversary. I will not negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.

I won't give up, shut up, or let up until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, and preached up for the cause of Christ.

I am a disciple of Jesus. I must give until I drop, preach until all know, and work until He comes. And when He does come for His own, He'll have no problems recognizing me. My colors will be clear!”

Very good post Abigya, I am so encouraged when I see this kind of faith and dedication to the Lord Jesus, and no esteem for self. While there are many world-wide who confess Jesus and give Him prominence, it seems there are few in whom Jesus is preeminent. Thank you for posting this, I think I will print it and put it in John Foxe's book of martyrs.

Thank you abigya,

this would be a good place to start each day. Over time we might even decide it is for us!

Such is the writing of one who has Jesus as Lord, as King, as Friend and as First Love.

He gives hope and assurance to His own.

For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.
Ecclesiastes 7:2

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Bless you ....><>

Dear sister Abigya

Thank you for posting this.

What a wonderful testimony of a life of faith and dedication to our beloved Lord Jesus Christ.

It challenges the feeble efforts of my heart when I now consider verses like

To me to live is Christ Phil 1:21

Present your bodies a living sacrifice Rom 12:1

O for self to become less and less....Just Jesus....King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Not I but Christ Gal 2:20

Love and blessings sister Abigya

Julia

great sis Abigya. Me too am blessed.

".... Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, pressing on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called us heavenward in Christ Jesus... " Philippians 3:13-14

Amen.
