Ephesians 1:4,5 say that long ago before God created the world, He has laready chosen, elected and handpicked those who are His. So God already knows who are His children and who are not his. But many will ask that how can we know if you're chosen or not?Once a child of God is always a child of God no matter what happens. And here, there's no conflict. A real child of God doesn';t mean he's not sinning. He is but he confesses it to God and surrender it to Him and return to His love walk with God and continues to change from glory to glory. So we'll know who are chosen or not by their fruits, meaning their character and attitudes.I don't mean again that you do not sin, but the thing is you continue your walk with God.Keep on keeping on.So, I don't have any right to say to anyone that you are not chosen, only you can say that and the Holy Spirit witnesseth it to you (Romans 8:16).

Predestination is a very difficult thing to grasp I have learned from my fellow beleivers in my Church. I personally love that fact God finds me so important that He chose little ol' me... yippeeee....

Predestination IS predetermined by God for HE does know who will accept HIS SON and who will reject HIM, but the most important thing for a Christian to remember is that the gospel of CHRIST is to/for all...It is not limited because we think someone might not be one of the elect. The grace of GOD and the gospel is extended to "whosoever" will come to HIM and believe upon the shed blood of the LORD JESUS CHRIST as the/our Substitute for sin. CHRIST made the atonement for the sin(unbelief) of the whole world that through believing in HIM, we can be at one with HIM...for "as he is, so are we" to the world. We represent HIM in all we say/do...

amen to that!

also...

I do not agree that once someone is saved we can assume that they will always remain so. Sadly people do turn away from God for may reasons. Endurance is needed in our Christian walk. Only those that endure to the end will be eternally saved. Jesus Himself said that only he who stands firm to the end will be saved. (Matthew 10:22 & 24:13)

The New Testament has examples of Christians who turned away from God. For example: Demas, who in the end chose the world over Christ. (compare Colossians 4:14 and Philemon 24 with 2 Timothy 4:10)

I predestined my son to go to college but it was still his choice.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
There is a difference between God controlling everything and God knowing everything.
I still make mistakes and sin, But if everything is predestined by God than God causes or makes me sin, the fact is this is not so. God does not even tempt anyone to sin.
James 1:13 " when tempted, no one should say, God is tempting me. For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone.
I think it is important when doing a study on any subject concerning our spiritual life in Christ that we sould read the whole book not just where we find that word in our concordance. In our journey to discover Truth, most of us
read what we believe when we should believe what we read.

JIGGYFLY, YOU MISS THE POINT HERE.YOU ARE PREDESTINED TO BECOME A CHILD OF GOD NOT BY GOD CONTROLLING YOU, BUT RATHER YOU HAVE A SEED IN YOU, IN YOUR HEART THAT ALTHOUGH YOU'RE SINNING, YOU STILL WANTS TO OBEY GOD AND THAT NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, YOU FALL AND SIN YOU ALWAYS RETURN TO HIM.IT IS BECAUSE YOU HAVE A SEED, GOD'S CHARACTER IN YOU, AS IN YOU HAVE YOUR FATHER'S BLOOD IN YOU. GOD BLESS US. PEACE IS WITH US.

Perfectly said. GOD knows who are His simply because GOD is Almighty powerful, wisdom is infinite. He knows who will believe in Christ as Savior and who will deny.

Like I said I don't agree with predestination doctrine, there is a difference between our interpitation of the scriptures and I just don't see the scriptures I referenced earlier supporting predestination or calvinism, sorry.
