So I am sitting here thinking about prophecy and how the Word says to desire spiritual gifts but especially prophecy...I was just wondering what everyones take on it is.

Please be specific. Maybe I'm not understanding fully what your asking.

God bless you

well, it seems to me that not too many people actually desire this sort of thing. I think that the church would be in a better state, with unity and all that, if these people

We all know people use their freedom as they wish. They either are obedient or disobedient to the Word of GOD and His laws. With all the denominations, different teachings, views, etc in a sinful world we will not see perfect unity by far.

In light of your topic about wanting spiritual gifts, here is some Scripture. I agree as Scripture states clearly to desire spiritual gifts. I welcome them for sure. GOD said it, we should accept.

1 Corinthians 12:1-3

Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant. You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 14:1-3
Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy. 2For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit. But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort.

Matthew 24: 37But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark

Colosians 3:1If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Their hearts have become cold toward the things of God and they are caught up with the things of the world.

Jesus said in Revelation 2:4
Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love

Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
