I am attempting to catch up with the Bible reading program that my church has, & these two verses lept out at me!
"Blessings crown the head of the righteous, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked.
(V11) The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked." (NIV)
I don't have my concordance with me, so I can't give you the locations for the references that I want to use-but you can rest assured that the ARE Biblically accurate.
It was the second half of both these verses that really struck me, because it is so true, especially of all the hate groups in this country, & the rhetoric that is being used by Muslim extremists as well.
have you noticed, time & time again, how everytime that the Nazi's, the Arryan Nation, the KKK, ect. appear in a particular location, that there is almost ALWAYS violence that results from their appearences? And isn't the second part of that verse equally true as well-that the violence is is indeed overwhelming?
Then we look at the rhetoric from the Muslim extremists as well! They really have a lot of us running mighty scared as well! And the has INDEED been overwhelming violence from them!
But look at the complete opposite for those of us who trust in Christ!
I can't think of where it is, but there is that verse that says-"
"Eye has not see, nor ear heard.....the blessings that God has for those who love Him." (I think I'm pretty close!)
Look at the Beatitudes, especially Matthew 5:10-12.
All through the NT, we see how God both has & WILL bless His children! Also check-out Psalm 32:1-11, John 1:14-17, Ephesians 1:3-14.
In Verse 11, notice how there is a very specific reference to witnessing!
And what is the life that comes from the fountain-Jesus! Isn't it a neat picture, to think of ourselves as fountains, pouring forth the Good News of life through the death & Resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ?
I know this is not as in depth as my usual posts! I'm pretty tired, but I hope that if I could bring a little blessing to you, that I have done as the Lord told me to do. God Bless!
In Jesus Name!
