Emo is an offsrpings of the psychedelic haze of the '60s.
Emo is imitation punk, now lets add with emotion. But then that's like saying those who are punk dont have emotion. Before people would steroype the estacy driven who slit their wrist , lived destructive drunken lives with needles up their arms were punks.
But we live in a society where kids need a place to belong, we're depress, we're lonely and we're misfits searching for a group to belong to. There's a new revolution of music
( actually old becoming new ), we have freedom of speech, freedom of expression, we are told individualism is the best way, trends and fashion directs us to who we are. The stooges and The Romones (old bands) are Pioneers for todays bands.
Our clothes dont always dictate who we are, because I dress in black and my male friends wear ladies tight jeans dont make us punks or emo, this is us being an individual. ( yeah whatever if there are thousands of other people looking like you its called a trend )
Anyway nothing is new when it comes to music, clothes, personalities and emotions. I wear my clothes to be anti conformity, anti government, anti society and anti Suburban, they rant on their blogs..
Emo, punk whatever this generation wants to call themselves is cool with me, just know that it's ALL been done before. Its taking Old to the new and new to the Old.
Can a christian be emo, yeah can a christian be punk yeah
But ...what separates you from the world?
Are you walking around depress or emotional, or would you reinvent this trend into Happy emo, Non Rebellious Punk ?
I think the style is cool, I'm into fashion, I love creativity. Its cool being different. Dress for you not the world, be you.
If your style just happens to be emo or punk...
Your attitude and Personality must direct others to Christ.
The only thing I dont get is WHY " the guys wear tight ladies jeans.." lol
1 John 2:15-17
15. Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

it's surreal, emo's are suppose to be outcast, alone, doesn't fit in any group or watsoever, but now theyve got their own clan. . .lol, its almost becoming pop!

I was emo. I wore "tight lady jeans". I wasn't depressed always, but in my heart i was lonely, of course. You can read everything about it, if you wasn't emo, you don't know what is it. Hard to understand it, when you are not in it.
The first thing is the web site, vampire****. It was the logo I took to all of my pictures. Therefore I began to read vampire-books, and Stephen King, Darren Shan. And that was very demonic, I can't sleep well at night therefore.
The second was the fashion. Ok, I dressed like a girl, with tight T-shirts, jeans, with the half-long hair... This is also a problem, but the really problem in it is, what the Bible says: 2 Timothy 3:1-2 : "But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money..." And that was it, shopping all the time, and everything is about myself and money.
The other thing is bisexuality, I wasn't in that, but for the style boys and girls are getting in it, and it makes GOD so sad.
This was a quick view of the emo.
I don't think that I can be an emo and a christian at the same time, because when I'm seperated from Jesus, I can't be his friend.

Thank you for giving us an inside look, we have so many posers who just wear the clothes .
In the Christian world many teenagers ( normal ones ) post they are emo in their blogs trying to blend into a culture they do not understand.
From what you just shared..Christians have no place calling themselves Emo or Punk.
