I have a question. I´ve been wondering what it means when Jesus said (Jn.16:24) "I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name."
I suppose, it does not just mean that we should put the phrase "In Jesus´name I pray" at the end of our prayer in order to have the prayer fulfilled, does it?

I take the scripture as it stands. Jesus said "in my Name" then we ask in His name. The name of Jesus is powerful. When we ask in His Name, we are giving an authority to our petition. The authority of the Name of Jesus.

God Bless

I believe that our Father will grant those prayers, but in His wisdom, He also knows what's best for us, and will not grant something that He knows isn't good for us. I've always heard that God always answers prayers, yes, no and not right now, are all answers to prayers.

Every petitionary prayer should also include, "but not my will, but Yours". Know in your heart that everything you ask for, isn't always what you need. Praise God that He grants that which is good, and like a wonderful parent, keeps from you the things that would do you harm. Trust in Him always!

Hi Truth, Snowrose, tgs4584, Stephen,
Thanks so much for your response and encouragement. You´re all so gracious!
I´ve been praying for my beloved sister (living in the US) for 18 years, the result is zero. This sister and I share the "world" but not the spirit. We are so close that I´m afraid she wouldn´t survive without me. She always unloads her anxiety, her agony, to me, I uplift her with the word of God, she kisses me and goes back to the world. This has been going for 18 years.
My pray-life is kind of juggling between God´s command: "Pray incessantly", " "..and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem......., and to the ends of the earth.", "Ask and it will be given to you." and God´s salvation plan. It seems to me that God will not save everyone - "His winnowing folk is in his hand to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn. He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire." (Lk 3:17)

Does God want me to continue praying for my sister (I have given up many times out of disappointment) til my last day, and leave the result to him? I know of his sovereignty, but it´s hard to accapt the thought of my sister being "burnt up with unquenchable fire". Or God want me to accept "My grace is sufficient for you" (2 co 12:9)?

Thanks for reading.
God bless you all.

P.S. I still don´t know how to use those available icons because I ´m quite sure I understand the meaning of them.
