I've been going to church off and on, reading my devotional at bedtime, praying for friends and family, but praying harder for things I want. Recently I've had a change of heart. I've truly started denying myself everyday for Him. I realized that Jesus did not ask me to follow Him when I feel like it, but take up my cross and follow Him always. Jesus is with us all the time. Every single time I say, "Jesus, please be with me today, right now," and He says, "I am." What I've started doing is giving Him my full attention, which isn't an easy thing to do. I have a lot going on in my head and heart that I wish wasn't there. I get distracted all of the time. But with prayer Jesus is cleansing me and giving me His peace. I'm taking out a lot of the noise in my life, for example: if I'm listening to the radio and I hear Jesus whisper in my heart for his attention, I'll turn it off and treasure silence with Him as he mends my mind with his peace and wisdom. I think many people out there are deafened by all kinds of media and not seeking Jesus constantly. When I'm at work that I have to stay on task, but Jesus asks us to include Him into every detail of our lives. I work for the Lord! He is with me always, so I acknowledge that and ask for His will to be done in my life through The Holy Spirit. There is nothing else like Jesus' peace, what a beautiful part of His character. I pray I will seek Him as earnestly as possible every day and become like Him. Amen.

It is so much discipline to read bible and prayer. So many distractions, but sometimes faith gets weaker but god never leaves me that I know he always chastise me and lead me into his way. When I started reading your thread i feel better. God bless you brother.

As a man inclines his ear towards Heaven ,God so inclines His ear to the man...you have Gods attention ask Him to postion you where it pleases Him to do so and watch the mighty hand of God in you're life ..try Him that He may prove His love and plans for you ,.....Rev

What I am about to say comes from my daily devotional, God's Way Day by Day, by Charles F. Stanley, and it reads, "A classic case of Doubt. 'He who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the lord.' James 1:6-7." It also reads, "The person who asks anything of God without faith is not going to receive what he requests." The author continues, "I know countless people who make their petitions to God by saying, 'God, I know you are all-powerful and all-wise and you can meet my needs, but...' That but clause is usually a statement of doubt, not faith. It is a 'but in this case' instance of doubt. Many people believe God can, but they have doubts that God will. They recite to God all of their inadequacies, unworthiness, shame and inability. God says if you come to him with that attitude, don't waste your time praying." I hope this helped you and ministered some kind of gift... Talent. I pray that God watch over you. Good day and God bless.

As for me when I pray it's with the faith that my Father in Heaven will answer and not give me bad or ignore me because His word says so ..I can go boldly before the throne if God with any needs! No matter what else happens I know He loves me and will do and preform what is best for me ..that's the prayer of faith beloved ! God hears that one every time ...!...Rev

Thank you all for your encouraging words and scripture. The doubt that comes to my mind is that God doesn't want what I'm praying for, so I always simply pray for His will to be done at the end of the prayer, letting Him know that I acknowledge His will is superior and far outweighs mine. I feel some discomfort knowing His will might lead me into...discomfort, but am more comforted by the fact that His will is right and good. My faith has felt weak the past few days as some anger issues have crept up in me again. Tiredness has a lot to do with it, but I keep striving for God's best in me. Jesus is always near!
