A river on its peaceful summer flow,
And a meadow where the wildest flowers grow,
Convey a sense of something we should know,
A need for what was lost so long ago.
A life where every aspect was complete,
We left it in the garden, through deceit,
An action that would prove so bittersweet,
As all the world appeared beneath our feet.
A world that has the opposite intent,
Causing much estrangement and dissent,
And though the thoughts of many are well meant,
It's not a place where most appear content.
For man is quite relentless in his aim,
For money, power and all material gain,
And some look down, with obvious disdain,
On those who have no heart to play the game.
But while our quest for money is revered,
Our moral value seems to be less clear,
And joy is turned increasingly to fear,
Till some don't have the will to persevere.
But whether we're in hope or in despair,
All of us require some repair,
And if our burdens get too much to bear,
Jesus is the answer to a prayer.
The greatest hero man has ever known,
Who saved our lives by giving up his own,
And though we widely disregard his throne,
His mighty kingdom offers us a home.
A refuge from a world that took our hearts,
When we devoured the knowledge at the start,
Forgiveness for our sins, however dark,
And the freedom such deliverance imparts.
The life that Satan's treachery displaced,
Restored by Jesus, through an act of faith,
Where love and truth, that come from God's embrace,
Will light our way forever in his Grace.
