“The Lord is my shepherd,
I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside quiet waters.
He restores my soul;
He guides me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.” (Psalms 23:1-3 NASB’95)

There is all kinds of craziness and unrest going on in the world right now. I know there definitely is where I live in the USA. There are wars and mass murders of innocents and lies and liars and manipulators of truth, and so much is being lied about and twisted to someone’s advantage, but not to the advantage of the people, in general, I believe. Powers that be are setting up their one world kingdom, I believe, and so much is now being turned topsy turvy. There is angst and upheaval and uncertainty in our news daily.

In America we have the illusion of two political sides (left and right). And the views and messages coming from either side are so intense and emotional and aimed at the other side for the purpose to stir up people’s emotions and to try to get them to take sides and to pit them one against the other, because they want us fighting each other over many things that may not even in exist in reality. Each side appears to take their positions to the opposite extreme, blaming the other side for what ails us as a nation.

It just seems that we are getting a daily and moment by moment dose of upheaval and fearmongering in our daily news, no matter which news site you watch, but I have not watched them all, so this is my perspective. And the messages are not just left and right, but they appear to be “all over the map,” going this way and that way. But I believe this is all purposeful, for they want us afraid, and they want us fighting each other, for it suits their purposes, i.e. those of the new world (beast) order that is taking place.

But the upheaval and liars and manipulators are not just people in the news media or in positions of power in the government, but they are in the gatherings of many so called “churches” which are being operated as businesses being marketed to the people of the world. Most of these businesses called “churches” seem to be incorporated under (partnered with) the state (the government), and so many of them seem to also promote government “worship,” of sorts, of those they deem to be their “saviors.”

So, in these troubling times we now live in, when we don’t know what is going to come next, and where angst is being thrown at us as our daily diet via the news media and our government heads, and from ordinary citizens of nations, too, we need to turn to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and find our peace in him. And I am not saying that we should ignore the warnings or that we should close our eyes to what is going on, or that we should not speak out when we believe something is amiss. We should!

But I believe we should not just “jump” on anyone’s “bandwagon” and assume that what they are telling us is the truth. And I believe we should not allow it to instill fear within us or hate for what we believe is the “other side.” As followers of Jesus Christ we are to take all of what is going on in our nations, and within the gatherings of the church, to the Lord in prayer, seeking his guidance and direction, and praying for wisdom to be able to separate the truth from the lies, for lies and liars abound everywhere.

But in all this upheaval, and in the midst of all this uncertainty regarding so many things in this life that we normally depend on, like income, food supply, clean air, and a place to live, etc., we need to take it all to the Lord in prayer. We should not “bury our heads in the sand” and ignore the reality of what is going on all around us, hoping if we ignore it that it will go away, or that it will not impact us, but we should not worry about the inevitable taking place, either. We need to trust the Lord with all our circumstances.

But let me say this here. We also live in a culture where so many people refuse to face up to the reality of what is happening in the world, and in our nations, and within the gatherings of the church, and many of them are also ignoring the Scriptures that they don’t want to hear, and all they want to hear is what sounds good and what makes them feel good, and that is not good, either. We cannot ignore the truth just because it makes us uncomfortable, but we need to take it all to the Lord and rest in him.

So, we should not ignore reality or the signs of the times in which we live, and we should definitely not ignore the teachings of the Scriptures which make us uncomfortable or which don’t fit in with our own “theology.” We need to know what the Scriptures teach us who profess the name of Jesus so that we can obey our Lord and no longer walk in sin. And we do need to know what the Scriptures teach about those who make sin their practice and for whom obedience to God is not their practice. They will die in their sins.

Thus, there is a balance that is needed here. We should not ignore unpleasantries if it is necessary that we need to be aware of them, or if some type of action is required on our part in response to the truth that we have become aware of, especially as it regards our salvation and eternal life with God. And we should be aware of what is going on in our world, but we need to bring all these matters to the Lord in prayer so that we are able to separate the truth from the lies, and so that we don’t get caught up in all the angst and start responding in fear rather than in faith, trusting our Lord.

In all of this we must pray, seek the Lord for guidance and wisdom, and then let him fill us with his peace. We must trust him with our circumstances and with all that is going on in the world. But we should never ignore his promptings when he tries to show us any of our areas where we are not in line with him and where we need to change. We should not seek peace over obedience to God, in other words. For we will never know true peace if our lives are not surrendered to the Lord, obeying his will for our lives.

Just a Closer Walk with Thee

Hymn lyrics by Anonymous/Unknown
Music by American Melody

“For indeed He was crucified because of weakness, yet He lives because of the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, yet we will live with Him because of the power of God directed toward you” (2 Co. 13:4 NASB).

I am weak, but Thou art strong;
Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
I’ll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.

Through this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.

When my feeble life is o’er,
Time for me will be no more;
Guide me gently, safely o’er
To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.

Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

A better hymn would be Blessed Assurance?
I've only heard this sung in English churches once!

Or
Or
'the greater our wonder, our rapture, when Jesus we see.'

GOD saved the Queen because she was descended right back to David and further to Ephraim.
