I will wake up to you

You're the voice that I hear in the corner of my ear

A thief in the night couldn't take me from you

You're the vision that I spy in the corner of my eye

An army of thousand's couldn't break me from you

You're the truth that I find in the corner of my mind

A hundred earthly tremors couldn't shake me from you

You're the single greatest part of my whole entire heart

This world is but a dream and I will wake up to you

Mama

When the breeze whispers by on a sunny afternoon

and high upon that breeze is a little red balloon

That's me saying "I love you" from the other side of the moon

I'm going away now, but I'll see you real soon

Cry to the one who's waiting for you

As your precious little child, Lord, you're always thinking of me

You don't love me because you saved me, you saved me because you love me

Puff, little puffer, see how high you can fly

The star that you are can probably puff a mile high

but when you're so, so high it's a long way down

so drink, little drinker, see how fast you can drown

The superstar that you are can probably float all night

but once you start sinkin', who's gonna save you tonight?

When you're done splashin' and strugglin' and gaspin' for air

trip, little tripper, see how nothing is there

The shining star that you are can probably make things just appear

but everything you see may not really be here

When you're done laughin' and cryin' over imagined joy and sorrow

slam, little slammer, like there's no tomorrow

The shooting star that you are can probably bang an eight-track

but when you're so shot up there just might be no coming back

and when you're done slavin' away to all the demons before you

cry, little child, to the one who's waiting for you...

I'll always be around

If I've ever made you cry, brought a tear to your eye
know I'm truly sorry on the day I say goodbye...

Today may be that day, so I'll tell you right here
never will I ever be the cause of one more tear
Whatever it was, I'd take it back in a minute
because my life wouldn't be the same if you weren't meant to be in it
If you can't forgive me now, maybe when I'm in the ground

As long as it takes, because I'll always be around

If I've ever done you dirty, committed a personal crime
know I'm truly sorry when I write my final rhyme...

This rhyme might be that rhyme, so I'll ask you right now
I hope you can forgive me someway, somehow
I hope you find it in your heart to accept my plea
and know that time and that crime was a different me
If you won't forgive me now, I'll catch you on the rebound
As long as it takes, because I'll always be around

If I've ever made you smile, maybe brightened up your day
know I truly meant it on the night I fly away...

Tonight might be that night, so I'll ask you in this rhyme
to hold on to that memory, to remember that time
I know I should have been that way to people all along
and if someone from another verse says I did 'em wrong
just explain I was lost, and waiting to be found
and tell 'em that I love 'em and I'll always be around

Flashed

I looked in the mirror as a kid, and what did I see

A happy, silly kid looking back at me

Running and playing, his spirit never confined

No hurries, no worries, not a care on his mind

Favorite time summertime, barefoot in the streets

Having fun with everyone, everyone he meets

Always at the park, him and all his friends

Thinking to himself "I hope the summer never ends..."

Thy kingdom come, Thy kingdom come

Thank you, God, for raising me towards the man I'll become

Thy will be done, Thy will be done

A sheep from your flock, whose life's just begun

I looked in the mirror in high school, and what did I see

A respectful young man looking back at me

Quite the joker, always wearing his shades

Hittin' the books just enough to keep up his grades

Loved the sports, football and hoop's

but never caught up in cliques or groups

Always hangin' out, him and all his friends

Thinking "This is the life, I hope it never ends..."

Thy kingdom come, Thy kingdom come

Thank you, God, for raising me towards the man I'll become

Thy will be done, Thy will be done

A future so bright, as bright as the sun

I looked in the mirror as a "man", and what did I see

A stranger, a monster looking back at me

Disrespecting women, no respect for men

One bad choice after another, time and again

Fightin', always fightin' through the fears and the tears

Barely dodgin' death, but he was dead for years

Always locked up, him and all his friends

Thinking "If this is my life, I can't wait 'til it ends..."

Thy kingdom come, Thy kingdom come

Thank you, God, for raising me towards the man I'll become

Thy will be done, Thy will be done

My sins washed away by the blood of Your Son

I looked in the mirror the other day, and what did I see

A man, a real man, looking back at me

A man who's made mistakes, and has tried to atone

A man who is grateful for the forgiveness he's been shown

A man, finally a man, trying to live his life right

It took a little while, but he finally saw the light

Trying to be a good role-model for his family and friends

Thinking "Thank you Lord for letting me live, before my life ends..."

Thy kingdom come, Thy kingdom come

Thank you, God, for raising me towards the man I've become

Thy will be done, Thy will be done

A time of life lost for forever to be won

I looked in the mirror today, and what did I see

A child of Christ looking back at me

An angel of God, flying far, far away

I see my dearest Jesus and He's showing me the way

I rose up ever higher, above the clouds, above the sky

and from the edge of Heaven, a tear fell from my eye

Always thinking of my children, who are truly my best friends

Saying "Please Lord, one last time, before my life on earth ends..."

Thy kingdom come, Thy kingdom come

Thank you, God, for raising me towards the man I've become

Thy will be done, Thy will be done

Yet another prayer answered, one last one

I looked at my children today, and what did I see

Each and every one was a little bit of me

They couldn't see me standing over with my back against the sun

They couldn't feel me as I cradled them, one by one

They couldn't hear me, yet I whispered "You will always have each other"

"Always help your sister. Always help your brother"

"Always love each other, try to always be friends"

"I will always be by your side, because true life never ends..."

Thy Kingdom come, Thy Kingdom come

Lord, protect them on their journey towards the people they'll become

Thy will be done, Thy will be done

Their sins washed away by the blood of your Son
