You've probably heard about SOAP method or APPLE method or HEAR method, how to study your Bible, right?
Few years back Lord put inside my heart a RIST method, which is inspired of His given surname to me and RIST in Estonian means CROSS.
So, what is a RIST method?
Read - The whole chapter
Improve - What does this chapter talk about? What is going on there? Depends on the situation, this is the point, where you can point out the characters or your own life things, what need improvement. For example if the passage speaks about King Davids fall into sin then as a reader you can see how David could have done better and so can you! Our main goal is to be godlier than David, right? Holy people, set apart.
Study - Here comes all the questions part. Who? What? When? Where? Why? How? + if certain verse in the chapter stood up the most, then cross-references it, that the scripture would interpret the scripture itself.
Thank - End this study with a gratitude prayer to God.
