Jesus answered and said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. "I have not come to call [the] righteous, but sinners, to repentance." Luke 5:31-32 NKJV

Politics is one of the most divisive issues in the church today. But the body of Christ must not limit itself to one side of the political tracks. Jesus exists for the benefit of the entire world. No man-made system can fully encompass the scope of the gospel, and Jesus would likely have praise and critiques for all parties involved.

People of strong faith on either side of the aisle are doing their best to follow Jesus. Consider the group that Jesus Himself first chose to represent Him to the world. Fishermen come to mind first, humble, hardworking souls who set aside their livelihood to follow Jesus. But Jesus also picked a Jewish tax collector (a collaborator with Rome) and a Zealot (a committed idealist who sought to bring down Rome). He selected two who would throw Him under the bus, only one of whom would repent. Jesus countered social norms by counting women among the people He discipled.

Diversity is a crucial part of being the body of Christ. Surrender your political opinions to the Lordship and leadership of Jesus. That’s where you’ll find true peace and freedom.

Prayer: Jesus, forgive me for putting any man-made ways and ideas above You and Your ways. Open my heart to looking for the possibilities. You see in people.
