hello.
in church life people are constantly refering to scripture where God has said something to someone or has spoken to sombody e.g;my signiture verse Jerimiah 29 verse 11, God is speaking to the exiles, yet people teach it as if God has said it to us.i am confused as i know for a fact that God sometimes says something to one person privately, but he wouldnt say it to anyone else because he only meant it for them.should we only take scripture that Jesu said directly to the church (us alive now etc)?

I believe that God inspired the writing of the Bible, and therefore EVERY word in it is something he wanted us to see, read, and understand. Many times the book is not meant to give a command to us, but rather to teach us a lesson on how to live your life. God knows the questions you have even before you ask them. He knows, and answers in his word.

God bless,
Nigh

Great answer Nigh!Just a small point in addition is that Jesus preached for three and a half years but the sum total of all we know about it in the NT does not really come close to that length of time. The whole bible spans a couple thousand of years of the history of gods people. What is contained within the bibles pages is enough for us to know to gain salvation.Does that make sense?it does in my head!

Amen. GOD works in mysterious ways sometimes which is beautiful and always goes to show GOD's amazing infinite wisdom and knowledge. What is not a mystery is Scripture itself. No secrets, no 'codes' and no tricks for trade.

GOD speaks directly to us sometimes clearer than other times depending on the answers we seek and need at that particular moment. GOD may use others to reach to you or circumstances / experiences the same.

Remember that maybe GOD may be speaking to this group or that nation, etc but over time as you read the same message GOD spoke to them may apply to you as well.

thank you for answers

Thank you for your responses.i still have a question;how do we know if when God spoke to daniel or Abraham or Ruth specifically, it was only meant for them.like he was only speaking to them and he wrote it in the bible for us to learn about the story, but instead people pluck it out and teach it as God speaking to us? like when God tells Sarah the wife of Abraham she is going to have a baby?
please share your thoughts on this with me.
thank you. :secret:

John 14:26"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.

I believe God uses specific segments to speak to us individually in our lives. Sometimes God uses words that ordinarily wouldn't apply to us in order to reveal a deeper meaning in our lives.

For instance: A former missionary to Japan that I know once told my Sunday School class the story of when her family decided to go to Japan. Her family was in the position of leaving the eldest son in America because of his studies. As she told it, moving to Japan was much like God calling Abraham to lay Isaac on the alter. She had to be willing to give up her son.

Even though the context wasn't exactly the same, she did feel the specifics of the situation.

Does that make any sense?

GOD is ONE on one GOD :-) Matthew 4:4 It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.Proverbs 4:22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. 2 Timothy 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:1 Thessalonians 2:13
For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.1 Peter 1:23
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.GOD is so awesome HE has given each one of us personally HIS wordJohn 1:14
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
