Seeking the Kingdom?
What has happen to our zeal and passion for the things of God? Romans 12:11 says “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.” I could remember when I just got save and how exciting and motivated I was to spread the word and read the word. Fire had nothing on me because I was hotter than ten fire side. There were days I literally went to church everyday. Whenever the church door was open I was trying to be there because I didn’t want to miss a move by God.
Now a day I think going to church on Sunday alone is the same way non-believers do. There are some people I meet that if they miss Sunday church they mad they go Sunday after Sunday and still not changed. They believe that going to church sanctify and make us holy but in actuality the word is like fuel do our body. “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17).”
I have learned something so vital in my Christian walk this year. Take for an example a relationship between a man and a woman. Ok when we are in love with someone we stay and endure it not just because of feelings but because of our commitment to each other we work things out. But being in a relationship with God there are days when I use to be mad at God and by how I was feeling I wouldn’t worship, go to church, hardly prayer or even read my word. But I learn that it is not based on emotions. If we only love God because of an emotion we are going to get a rude awakening. Feelings change but God doesn’t change “He is the same yesterday, today and forever more (Hebrew 13:8).”
Another scripture that change my life was Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Seek Him (Christ) first not the desires of this world: husbands, jobs, career, house or cars (Yes you may feel lonely but God is a God of order, put His priorities first and line up with His plans for our lives). Whatever we can do to expand the kingdom and save the lost that should be our first priority. And then the end of the scripture says and these things will be added unto you. The things are what you desire as Psalms 37:4 says “Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”
Am not telling you to get active in the things of God for the things you want. Whatever you sow you will reap (Galatians 6:7). If you sow sparingly you will reap sparingly. And am not meaning money neither if you are faithful to God He will be faithful to you. He cannot go against His word and He says delight in me, seek me that’s all is required of you. But God is not like man cause God allows the sun to shine on the just and the unjust.
We need a heart like David; he was a man after God’s own heart. Psalms 122:1 says “I was glad when they said unto me; Let us go into the house of the LORD.” He was so excited when He got the chance to go into the courts of God. “Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked (Psalms 84:10).”
So are you seeking the Kingdom or God or the things (desire) you want from God?
