For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. 8 For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's. Romans 14:7-8 NKJV

As a Christian, you are not your own, so how you live and die should bring glory to your Lord, Jesus Christ. You are subject to His lordship over every aspect of your life, and you will be subject to Him after you die.

For the nonbeliever, that’s an ominous prospect. But for you, that’s encouraging. Because your worth has been established by Jesus’ death, and because you’ve been raised spiritually with Him, you are no longer bound by the punishing standards of yourself or the world.

Unredeemed, you can’t help but make comparisons. It’s the only way you can feel your worth, by finding ways to be superior to someone else in some way—Yeah, I’m bad, but I’m not as bad as that guy. But Jesus freed us from the pull of sitting in God’s throne of judgment. You’re free to love the way He loves you—as someone who truly needs to be saved and someone who is truly worth saving. He wants us to treat others the same way, opening His path of liberation to them.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You alone are worthy to judge our hearts. I will leave the judging to You and work on loving the way You do.
