Drink water from your own well--share your love only with your wife. Proverbs 5:15 NLT

In a world where sexual inhibitions are rapidly disappearing, does it seem like people are happier? Or have increasing sexual freedoms been accompanied by a tidal wave of anger, confusion, and depression?

Christian men are not immune to the overwhelming messages of culture: Give in to your desires. Do whatever feels good. Follow your heart.

But any honest reading of God’s Word yields a singular rule: sex is to be experienced between one man and one woman, in a faithful, lifelong marriage.

Is that limiting? Yes. And no.

By keeping sex within God’s marital framework, all other partners and forms of expression are out. (So too are the disappointments, fears, embarrassments, and even physical diseases that go with unbridled sexual activity.)

According to the Proverbs, the gain of following God’s rules is the satisfaction of a truly committed marriage relationship—drinking in the joys of your own loving wife. Your marriage becomes a place not only of physical pleasure but of emotional safety and support.

In a world gone crazy, take heart and guard your heart. Whether you’re married now or hope to be someday, God has the better way.

Prayer: Lord, help me to understand Your wise way for sex. Keep me pure and true in Your care.

Yes it is a very tough road.

I for one can attest to the pressure, being a truck driver and away from my wife for long periods of time. All manner of thought comes in from the outside. But it is my strong desire to follow the will of God, and be faithful to my wife that keeps me focused.

I've had many different experiences, at truck stops of women coming up to you asking, "are you lonely?". To which I might respond " Yes!" . Then the reply would be "would you like a date". And I would say " no".

The lady I said that too look fairly puzzled at me, asking "I thought you said you were lonely?". And I would reply, "I am, but I'm also married"

The ladie's reply was "she won't know", and I told her "that's not the point - the point is that I would know"

But there's been a lot of those type of interactions, with this particular situation there were two women working the truck stop. And I walked up to them and ask them why they were doing these things selling themselves to drivers . They were from a local college and they wanted to have "kicks" they said. I told them all the horror stories that I knew about women that had been abducted, from truck stops. I talked to them about the reality of diseases and everything else. And then I told them if I ever caught them out here again I would call the police.

I put $20 of gas into their car bought them both a sandwich and drink and told them to go back home.

But these type of things happen all the time, whether it's girls from a college trying to have stupid experiences. Or sex trafficking that happens quite a bit too.

It's important to keep focused on what you value. Reading the scripture daily, talking to God daily is really important for me. And calling my wife throughout the day is always quite a blessing for me.
