should Christians allow some idols and not others.

I find many, many, many, Christians who have idols in their lives. They will agree to get rid of some idols. Other times they don't think what they have is a idol. the belief that once saved always saved allows some to believe they can have idols because they are going to heaven anyway. Others have a hard time giving up a idol that is a habit.
in Col. 3:5 covetousness is idolatry. Tip---if you need something pray God will give it to you by your faith. There are many idols, Santa teaches that several months of the year. Of course he is a white lie and a idol.

I've seen a lot of people who overstep patriotism and unwittingly or ignorantly pass into idol-ship of their nation. On the other hand, I see people who's attacks on a nation (Both physical and verbal), is an idol.

1st John 5:20-21 ANd we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true,in His son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. Little children, keep yourselves frm idols. Amen.

It tells us here in the bible that we are to keep ourselves from idols. I believe an idol can come in many forms and takes away our focus on Jesus and allows for self to put first...this is not a good thing because when we put self first it only leads to hurt and destruction. Money, lust, drinking, gambling, the worship of movie stars/musicians, drugs, and yes even food can turn into an idol if we are not careful. We are instructed by God that we cannot serve two masters we can only serve one or the other. It also tells us this that we will not be brought under the power of any and why is this...because we not only know the one true God and His Son Jesus but we are His children and heirs to the throne and by His power and strength we will not be brought under the power of any idol....we are and will be victorious because of Jesus as long as we keep our eyes turned to Him and focus on Him.

1corinthians6:12 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

Matthew6:24 No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. I believe this verse speaks to us about anything that takes the place of our focus on Jesus.

Joshua24:15 But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

this last verse is one that touches each of us...though imperfect as we are God loves us and has redeemed us. We now strive to serve Him and praise Him each day...life is hard and there are many things our enemy satan will use to try to get our focus off Jesus and on to other things, but stand steadfast in your faith and know that we are all victorious through our Lord Jesus if we only keep our eyes on Him and strive to do our best to serve Him daily. As for me and my house you bet we will serve the Lord.
