Honestly, I listen to all kinds of music becuase the Bible tells us to "be all things to all people so that we may win some" and I feel as a musician, i have to be in the know about the different types of artists and songs out today in order to relate to those who dont know Christ. Alot of my youth (including me) grew up on secular music, so they have no idea where to go to listen to gospel music.

ONce i find a Gospel artist that sounds similar to their favorite secular artist, then its easier for me to explain by example the differences between the two.

The Bible also tells us "whatever is good, pure, righteous, do such things" and unfortunately there are some artists out there who promote the contrary.

Its been hard for me to make that transition from Secular to Gospel, but its not impossible. Just remember that you must protect your "ear and eye gates" at all times. If you feel it conflicts with your spiritual walk, then refrain from it until you're able to withstand. And that goes for music, movies, televisions, even social events we may encounter.

the one thing to take from all this, dont let secular music be the only thing you listen too. Make God your first choice. Music that glorifies Him should make your spirit leap...no matter the genre!

If you don't want to listen to "secular music" that's fine, but it doesn't mean that others have the same convictions.

Honestly speaking, i think its really important for a christian to be careful of what they listen to. we not not to indulge in any kind of music. one of the musicians in our church told me that the is something powerful about music. remember we are not to be conformed to the things of this world.

I listen to a lot of music, and it has not made me feel farther away from God.
If it did, then I would stop.
There was 1 band that did, so I don't listen to them anymore.

You can

Don't worry, you aren't going to burn in hell because you aren't listening exclusively to Christian music.

?

Should we, meaning you, even listen to "Christian" music. Considering what is "Christ-like", I dont believe this wordly, emotion driven,
repetitive, alot of the time shallow, music is that which Jesus was singing as they departed the upper room from the Last Supper? This song was sung in the presence of the congregation, scripturally sound, praise unto the Father.

Then Psalm 150 must be a bold faced lie I am to assume?

it doesn't matter is the artist isn't a christian aslong as they are not singing things against God...i listen to people who arent christians but they dont sing about bad thing...plus what you make the song out to be that is what it is:wink:

I disagree, as long as we don't participate in said sin in the lyrics, then I think you're good to go. :)

I think you can listen to any music as long as the meaning of it DO NOT affect you (especially those who pushed you to do evil things)..:)

I personally listen to gospel alone..we r in this world but r not part of this world. This path is about sacrafice nd the word says holiness unto the Lord so I cant contaminate myself with stuff that arent godly..my thoughts
