Should you beg God in prayer?

Some may read the Bible in discern that God wants to give the saints all that we need to carry out
God's work. As a result God gladly wants to give us all that we need to accomplish the work, we just
need to ask.

Others may read that we need to perserve in prayer and ask over and over and over,
as if begging and pleading with God to do something that God does not want to do
OR will only do if we beg and plead with Him.

How do you approach prayer?

Do you beg God, like a teenager asking their parents to borrow the car when the parents really doesn't want them to have it,
or do you ask God when you pray as a child asking a parent for food, something that parent wants to give to the child because they know
they are hungry and need it?

Or are there times when we need to beg God because God is mad at us and we are showing our humbleness in begging?
Or does our repentance, if we do sin, cover and fix our relationship with God allowing us to come boldly to the throne of Grace?

Boldly or Begging?
And does this change based on your relationship with God?

I first try to remember to exalt him with praise and worship, his word says he is looking for people to do this

John 4:23

I do not beg, because God knows what I need better than I know what I need, I want to do his will, I want his will to be my will. I do not try to get God to do my will. I try to get God to help me see his will and do that.

I do pray for people, ministries, and nations saved, lost, reached unreached. ( I do use a prayer list)

I do pray for help all the time when I see myself becoming selfish, God word says to put other needs in front of our own self. Just today I was struggling with this, as some demands of ministry were weighing on me, then boom he made it all right.

I give thanks to God and always, ask for help, but I do not beg and do not ever get mad at God. I have heard some say they get angry at God, I just can not understand that one.

I speak with God most of the day, but I do have 3 times a day I set aside on my knees and pray. I used to do that on my face, did not even think of that until now.

Excellent perspective.

How would you describe the relationship between God's WILL and our prayer life as Christians?

Do we find out God's WILL in prayer?

Do we go to prayer to let our WILL be known?

Or both?

Well here is my 2 cents, I have ask God in the past for a women, for a wife, a car, a truck, for good grades, among other things, but i can tell you know,
I learned, give me what i need, and i came to a understanding: "The LORD is MY SHEPHERD and he supplies all of my needs" or The LORD is SHEPHERD and I HAVE NO OTHER NEEDS"

And then again, give me everything i need. because LORD, i do not know, what I want or what I need, because in my past what i ask for He gave it and after I got it , It didn't wanted, i was afraid to complain, neither did i need it. it took a while , but i learned "GODLINESS with Contentment is A GREAT GAIN" be satisfied with what you got!
i don't care if it is only "TOOTHBRUSH"!

And i have heard many men talking about what they wanted, but when they got it! especially when those men married those young women!? :sob: { I can't breathe"] the pain ran across my chest! I have heard so much in my years!:sob:

LORD I WANT THIS KIND OF MINISTRY, would you send more, i don/t have time to read my Bible, everybody calling me all through the night
Now LORD send ME HELP>>NOW LORD, I NEED THIS.

I remember when i was young in the Ministry, LORD I want to FEEL your ANOINTING So powerful as I preached, He did, I do not want that no more!

I do not want any more visions, no more Theophanies, no more "Beatific visions"!

We want meat, ok i going to give you meat , so much meat it will be running out of your nose!

SAMUEL; give them what they want! they want a King, give them kings like other nations.

Samson, i met a woman, of the Philistine and she pleases me well, i want her! (his parents did not know it was from the Lord is why he wanted her)

Saul; i going to give her to him David, Michal my daughter, she going mess him up!

"Then David sent messengers to say to Ish-bosheth son of Saul, “Give me back my wife, Michal, whom I betrothed to myself for a hundred Philistine foreskins.” So Ish-boshethsent and took Michal from her husband Paltielson of Laish. Her husband followed her, weeping all the way to Bahurim. Then Abner said to him, “Go back.” So he returned home.…:pensive:

We do not know what we want. it is best to be silent, and pray give me want i need and not what i want. That is wisdom even let so it is wisdom, coming from the LORD. " even a house that has many stalls has much issues"

God does not need us to carry out his work, he wants us to be obedience and grow Into sanctification and holiness and be faithful not sucessful.

When I speak of ministry I'm speaking about minister ordained by God in terms of our calling.

For example, some are called to minister in music, others minister by visiting the sick.
Others are called to minister in teaching and they might pursue a degree in Seminary and
pray for God to provide tuition. Others might be called to minister overseas and they might
pray for God to provide the funds for the plane ticket.

So I'm not sure I understand what you mean by man has declared ministry.
Please elaborate.

When I use the word ministry I'm speaking of doing the WORK of God. Not the WORK
to be saved but the WORK that follows after we are saved as we walk on our calling.

lighten up, i know mere words, i understand, relax, do you think a degree and the word ministry will mean anything when we walk the STREETS of GOLD and Our GLORY impress the winds. as the winds glance at the Stride of our feet. and I can see the smile on your face walking the streets of Pure GOLD:)

(Luke 1)
1One day in a place where Jesus had just finished praying, one of His disciples requested,“Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught hisdisciples.” 2So Jesus told them, “When you pray, :eyes:say: ‘Father, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come.…ff.

New American Standard Bible (Luke 9)
And then a voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is My Son, MyChosen One; listen to Him!”

he is not complicated, simple for the common man.

Let the world pray as they please but we have commands! and our commands are TRUE and SIMPLE. "WHEN YOU PRAY " for we all will be as ONE, One GOD, One LORD ONE FAITH, ONE PRAYER, ONE DESIRER , A house divide against itself cannot stand. We all must come into The UNITY of THE BODY of CHRIST.

…As the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you. Remain in My love. if you keep My Commandments, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love. I have told you these things so that My joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.…

"When you pray" is a "COMMAND"!

Jesus prayed like His FATHER Commanded Him to Pray he did not add or take away. he is our Example not a mere man.

They tried that on me the pastors and the ministers when I was young in the Ministry, I took them Apart! EMPOWERED! By The PARAKLETOS! [ oh that is a example how we should pray] what they tried to proclaim. not here.

I have not failed one day that i can remember not praying like that everyday for over 44 years sometimes 2 3 4 times a day and night! WHY BECAUSE JESUS SAID so! Simple he said it and The FATHER said, Listen to HIM!

Now how hard is That! and when he question me, well how did you pray, My ANSwer the WAY you told me and WHy you Listen because Our FATHER told us to Listen to you! and you told us to keep keep your commandments!

You see i don't know any better because i do not trust men or women and he knows it. But he said to TRUST Him And trust NO MAN!

New International Version
that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.

' ... And the LORD struck the child that Uriah's wife bare unto David, and it was very sick.
David therefore besought God for the child;
and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth.
And the elders of his house arose, and went to him, to raise him up from the earth:
but he would not, neither did he eat bread with them.'
(2 Sam. 12:15b-17)

Hello @Jesus_is_LORD,

When I read your opening few paragraphs, by mind went to David in 2 Samuel 12:15-23, who when his newborn was very sick, 'besought' God for the child that he may live. Yet when he knew that he had died David rose up, washed and ate the food that he refused while praying. His servants questioned him about the fact that there appeared to be no mourning now, but acceptance, and he said to them:-

' ... While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept:
for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me,
that the child may live?
But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast?
can I bring him back again?
I shall go to him,
but he shall not return to me. '
(2 Sam 12:22b)

* I find that more often than not I lay my requests before Him, and then pray that God's will be done, for I do not know how to pray: and we know, for the Bible tells us, that the Spirit searches us, and knows what we need even before we ask, and prays for us (Romans 8:27).

Thank you
In Christ Jesus

Amen, thanks for the wisdom.

Follow the pattern of the Lord's prayer: Praise the Father, ask for help, ask for forgiveness, ask for discipline, and thank the Father. Don't just recite it, which would turn it into a vain repetition which Yeshua specifically criticized. Use it as a pattern to create your own prayer.
Excellent answer. Thank you.

Thanks for the scriptures.
Many people do not know how to read parables' and i have notice a lot don't.

"And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until :eyes:their fellow servants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled."

God is not like the unjust JUDGE nor is His time liken to the quickness of The Unjust JUDGE!

Luke 18:7; now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He DELAY long over them?
how long is long? 1 day or a thousand years?

"Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him: But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God."

When i was young in the faith concerning christianity, I felt God did not speedily defend my case against those men and women christians treated me so badly, t the deceptions the lies the tricks in order to see my downfall, And let my guards down and trusted them. Knowing have bible says; Trust no man! Do not trust her who lies in thy Bosom. I had no defense, and it seems God only laugh at me. And said to me "I told you" you trusted in them and they told you LIES and I was telling you the TRUTH" I told you Vengeances is Mine that i would replay" I told you clear as DAY! but you said you was going to defend yourself! And it was a Bigger trap!

Finally a few years later, He DID! He Brought them ALL down Beyond repair even a big corporation! a church Ministers and death!

I told my mother what GOD had said and she told them!:eyes: My Mama told me; "I told them"! I told them in Church and all those preachers" My Mother Said; GOD brought them all down, the old ones the young ones and the judge! and The church! And the big corporation! them all came down! And from that day, when they trapped me! I start trusted GOD, I ain't defending Myself to no body! I going to even wait to Judgment DAY! :eyes: They to smart for me! Those Pharisees, Caesars, Herod, and his brother wife and daughter! "I want his head on Planter!:sob: hey, go ask Jesus: is he the One to Come or should we look for another.:sob: they get ready to cut my head off!:sob: And that Devil, attacking your mind! " I got you, let me see you get out of this!" and your wife laughing in your face! done lie on you, and they ain't believe in you, the devil: I got you and GOD ain't coming because you trusted them, instead him! you turn your back on him, now he laughing at you!:sob: and all you friends is against you! But God had one that stood with me! He said he was so scared his knees was shaking!:sob: when it was all over we laugh and laugh and kept on laughing!

"God did tell me, when i bring you out , it is going to be like, you have come out of a dream"

I could see it ,even in my wife eyes. "where is your God now"!

"When the LORD brought back the captive ones of Zion,
We were like those who dream.

Then our mouth was filled with laughter,
And our tongue with joyful shouting;
Then they said among the nations,
“The LORD has done great things for them.”

11And they say, “How does God know?
And is there knowledge with the Most High?”

12Behold, these are the wicked;
And always at ease, they have increased in wealth.

13Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure,
And washed my hands in innocence;

14For I have been stricken all day long,
And chastened every morning.

15If I had said, “I will speak thus,”
Behold, I should have betrayed the generation of Thy children.

16When I pondered to understand this,
It was troublesome in my sight

17Until I came into the sanctuary [The Hidden place] of God;
Then I perceived their end.

18Surely Thou dost set them in slippery places;
Thou dost cast them down to destruction.

19How they are destroyed in a moment!
They are utterly swept away by sudden terrors!

20Like a dream when one awakes,
O Lord, when aroused, Thou wilt despise their form.

21When my heart was embittered,
And I was pierced within,

22Then I was senseless and ignorant;
I was like a beast before Thee.

23Nevertheless I am continually with Thee;
Thou hast taken hold of my right hand.

24With Thy counsel Thou wilt guide me,
And afterward receive me to glory.

25Whom have I in heaven but Thee?
And besides Thee, I desire nothing on earth.

26My flesh and my heart may fail,
But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

27For, behold, those who are far from Thee will perish;
Thou hast destroyed all those who are unfaithful to Thee.

28But as for me, the nearness of God is my good;
I have made the Lord GOD my refuge,
That I may tell of all Thy works."

did i pray for their destruction, NO!

Hello @Jesus_is_LORD,

I have just read your OP again, and realised that I did not answer the question you asked. For you ask HOW we approach the throne of grace, and my answer to that is, BOLDLY. The reason why is found in Hebrews:-

'Seeing then that we have a great high priest,
that is passed into the heavens,
Jesus the Son of God,
let us hold fast our profession.
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched
with the feeling of our infirmities;
but was in all points tempted like as we are,
yet without sin.'
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace,
that we may obtain mercy,
and find grace to help in time of need.'
(Heb 4:14-16)

* This boldness to approach God's throne of grace, for me, is a relatively new thing. For I needed the assurance that comes with understanding (Colossians 2:2): and that understanding has taken a long time to take root. To fully appreciate the completeness of the finished work of Christ on my behalf, and the knowledge that, in Christ, I truly am a 'son', and have the privileges of approach that a 'son' has. Praise God!

Thank you
In Christ Jesus

This is so well said my brother!!! Alleluia!!!

I'm going about reading this thread rather slowly, in order to take it all in, so I don't know if you've covered the following or not, but when you have prayed for others; how have you conducted yourself before the Throne of Grace & Mercy? I can only assume with Great Humility since His will for them might not be evident to you at the time. :no_mouth:

As I've said before, you are a joy dear brother!

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

Proclaim HIS NAME, And what HE has DONE to YOU! the only thing you need is a voice! on the street corner, in Walmart,, on the job, over mama house, aunt house, corner store health store the gym, The Pharmacy, the mall, Where ever the soul of your feet touch has become HOLY GROUND!

They know me! Starbucks, Walmart, Krogers, Pharmacy, Tim Hortons, the Park when i am walking, I am not ashamed of the GOSPEL of JESUS CHRIST! if you are ashamed of him here he will be ashamed of You before His Father and the Angels in heaven! any body can displayed in a church building! you be surprised have men and women told me that stuff is for the church and take it to the Church!

I ain;'t got a church , and don't want too!.......neither do i belong to one! And I ain't a Christian But I am A CHILD of THE LIVING GOD! and I am going to tell what he has done to me! I am a NEW CREATURE!

AND THEY STOP, and i tell them they shout at football games and basketball games. they give a shout for their team, I got a team too! just let me just shout a bit! and let me hum a tone! Can i call on his name jsut one time! :sob: they ain't never seen nobody like me!

never a man has talked like that!

John 7 )KJV)
45Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him? 46The officers answered, Never man spake like this man. :eyes:

King James Bible
"He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked."

I remember in REFORMED Bible College my "Methodology and Hermeneutics" PROFESSOR a "Plymouth Brethren" quoted us that Scripture and How he said it , made a difference in my life, and i will never for get him, and he said many will fail his class but many will receive, the best. :pensive:
Dear Brother,
Amen!
Lord willing, one day we'll do church together!
For me sometimes, it's like I'm sticking my big toe in the water to make sure it's not too cold!
While at other times I'm jumping in like I'm skinny dipping!!
And know I can't swim either!! o_O

It took a while for my wife to get used to it, but bless her heart, she was patient with me, and would usually stand aside with whoever was with that other person while we were churching! :grinning:
Now that she has gone home, I guess it's my son's turn!!! He's just not as patient, and will just walk away...:joy:

Oh, well. Thank-you for bringing back some good memories, and a reminder that one day, we'll be in His Kingdom and say the name of Jesus and all we'll hear is "PRAISE HIM" with no rolling of eyes, only waves of joy engulfing us at the mention of His Name!!!

With the Love of Christ Jesus.
