Sing to the LORD a new song, [And] His praise from the ends of the earth, You who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, You coastlands and you inhabitants of them! Isaiah 42:10
In the first nine verses of this chapter, Isaiah heralds the coming Messiah. He does so in faith, as he listens to God in anticipation of what is to come. He calls everyone, from those who work on the sea to those who live in the islands and coastal regions, to sing a new song--one that had never been heard before in the heathen world--about the coming Messiah.
As Isaiah looked forward in faith, the Church looks backward in faith, knowing that the Messiah has already come. How can the Church do anything except sing about such an event? Has the fact that Jesus came and died for your sins created a new song in your heart?
As you go about your normal routines, are you quick to sing about Jesus--maybe songs that the unconverted are unfamiliar with? Flip on a Christian radio station and sing along or sing a hymn of praise as you leave work. Music is a wonderful way to witness.
Prayer: Father, put a new song in my heart--one that will allow me to witness to the unbelieving world about Jesus.
