Dear Precious Ones in The Lord,
And they went out to see what had come to pass; and they came to Jesus, and found the man, from whom the demons were gone out, sitting, clothed and in his right mind, at the feet of Jesus: and they were afraid. Luke 8:35 (ASV)
On Wednesday afternoons once a month I am priviliged to take the Gospel of Jesus to a Residential Care Home for elderly who suffer from severe mental disorders. It is difficult to know how many of the residents relate to the Lord. We actually have a kind of 'church service' with gospel ministry, hymns, prayer and praise.
There is one dear lady there, her name is Winnie, who was very severely mentally troubled and for a long time now has shouted and really cursed us throughout the service. She has, in no uncertain terms, frequently demanded that we 'clear off' and not come back accompanied by the most evil of threats, obscene language and curses.
However, we have been praying for her and and demonstrating the Love of Jesus throughout.
Yesterday afteroon, as usual, we started the service (what I do I prepare a hymn sheets of about 5 hymns approapriate to the message) I started to distribute the hymn sheets starting with dear disturbed Winnie. Before anyone could say anything, she literally grabbed the hymn sheet from my hand and exclaimed in a very loud voice, "This is what I have been looking for - look! I've found him at last -here he is."
"I've found him ... I've found him" she continued to shout.
Then, for the first time, calmly and clothed in her right mind she tearfully and contritely read the first hymn on my hymn sheet..............
I’ve found a Friend, Who is all to me,
His love is ever true;
I love to tell how He lifted me
And what His grace can do for you.
Refrain
Saved by His power divine,
Saved to new life sublime!
Life now is sweet and my joy is complete,
For I’m saved, saved, saved!
He saves me from every sin and harm,
Secures my soul each day;
I’m leaning strong on His mighty arm;
I know He’ll guide me all the way.
Refrain
When poor and needy and all alone,
In love He said to me,
“Come unto Me and I’ll lead you home,
To live with Me eternally.”
Refrain
What a Mighty God We Serve !!!
Your brother in The Lord
