Answer:“Soul sleep” is a belief that after a person dies, his/her soul “sleeps” until the resurrection and final judgment. The concept of “soul sleep” is not biblical. Sleeping is just a way to describe death because a dead body appears to be asleep. The moment we die, we face the judgment of God (Hebrews 9:27). Until the final resurrection, though, there is a temporary heaven—paradise (Luke 23:43;2 Corinthians 12:4) and a temporary hell—Hades (Revelation 1:18;20:13-14). As can be clearly seen inLuke 16:19-31, neither in paradise nor in Hades are people sleeping. It could be said, though, that a person’s body is “sleeping” while his soul is in paradise or Hades. At the resurrection, this body is “awakened” and transformed into the everlasting body a person will possess for eternity, whether in heaven or hell. Those who were in paradise will be sent to the new heavens and new earth (Revelation 21:1). Those who were in Hades will be thrown into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:11-15). These are the final, eternal destinations of all people—based entirely on whether or not a person trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation.

Present-day defenders of soul sleep include theSeventh Day Adventist church,Jehovah’s Witnesses,Christadelphians, and others.

What do you think, is Soul Sleep a biblical concept. When we die, do we sleep, unconsciously per say, until the Lord decides to have the judgement?

And when He had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the Word of God, and for the testimony which they held.

Wnd they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost Thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?”..

Seems the one passed on speak here .bi know Enock talks about a place with the sons of Adam sleep..

Imma ponder with the Lord tho on this..

I never heard of soul sleep before..

I feel we would get a more complete understanding of what The Bible intended for us to understand when we include all the scriptures we can find on that Bible topic.

Someone please give me a scripture that seems to explain all people automatically after death get everlasting life in heaven or hell?
 
Jesus will reign in his kingdom for a thousand years Revelation 20:4-6 . And There will be a new heavens and a new earth and New Jerusalem coming down out of heaven descending from heaven to the New Earth. Revelation 21:1, 2-4

Revelation 21:5 says: God is making all things new.
 
I like friendly conversations about Bible subjects and the scriptures.. I don't like to debate about words..

Why does the Bible explain "you shall surely die" Genesis 2:17, "For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.” Gen. 3:19 in the book of Genesis, why does the book of Genesis explain these details in the first place? Why does Genesis explain nothing about we really don't die?

We know what God meant by 'death' by looking at what happened to Adam and Eve after their sin. IE Excommunication from Eden / separation from God's presence = death. God is life. John 1:4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.

Dust to dust is one of four curses placed on Adam and Eve. It was a part of their punishment, but unrelated to death / 'you shall surely die'.

So that was all old testamate and its quite possible the righteous dead were "asleep". But now we can be with Jesus immediatly after death.

Samuel asks the medium "why did you disturb me?

If he was awake with Jesus, he would not have been disturbed.
