But Moses replied, "No, it's not a shout of victory nor the wailing of defeat. I hear the sound of a celebration." Exodus 32:18 NLT

God chose Moses to take the Israelites from slavery to freedom, but the people complained and longed to return to Egypt. When Moses climbed Mount Sinai to meet with God, the people waited. But they didn’t wait long.

The people could see the clouds, hear the thunder, and witness the lightning. But the people didn’t see Moses. With no one to lead, the people went their own way. They commissioned a new god to lead them. Moses’ brother Aaron made a gold statue of a calf. The people thought it looked good enough to worship.

This nongod was getting in the way of Moses’ time with the God who delivers. From the mountaintop, Moses heard the sounds of a celebration—but God wasn’t the honored guest.

Is it hard to wait on God? He has answers, but do you look elsewhere when you think He’s not paying attention? Can you remember a time when you wondered if following God made practical sense?

If you’re going to follow someone, don’t follow the Israelites. Don’t witness God’s rescue and think this same God would ever abandon you.

Prayer: Lord, I want to worship You and make You the honored guest in my life. I want to follow and not be distracted. I want to remember that You never leave me.

Brother, once of the first visions I had while in service was that I was standing in the kitchen of some house (that I had never seen before) and I heard the sound of celebration, like a party going on in the next room (I was alone in the kitchen), I went into the next room and no one was there, somehow the music and voices were being piped in. Didnt understand it at the time, but on my first leave time, I went home and visited friends. My best friend from there had rented a new place, so after I got the address, I went there, and it was the place in my vision, and soon after I got there and spoke to him, I had the second vision. It was pretty cool, it was the first time my friend experienced something spiritual like that. It sorta scared him, but at the same time, it scared him in a good way, he is slowly turning around his life toward Jesus. Say a prayer for him, his name is Howard.
