Spiritual Gifts

Hi All!
This is kind of an embarrassing question but lately I have been hearing a lot about spiritual gifts at church, but am confused about prophesying. I'm not to sure what it exactly is - I thought it was something done in Bible times but didn't really apply today, but lately it seems other wise. Is it predicting the future? I feel really silly for asking, but I know we should be praying for spiritual gifts as Paul tells us - especially the gift of prophesy.

Welcome sister. No need to feel embarassed or so at all, not on this site at all. You are free in Christ so ask away freely with your passion to learn and grow in Christ. After all, we are the body of Christ and we need each other to grow.

I know there are many highly educated members in Christ who are rich in Scriptural wisdom that will answer this for you. I will step back and learn with you as well.
