Pray on the Armor of God

Prayer is work—and it requires all-out battle. It is not an idle pastime or an optional exercise reserved for more “spiritual” believers. Prayer is the hard-work business of the church of Jesus Christ. The kind of prayer that changes hearts and transforms neighborhoods and rebuilds communities and revives nations is intense, fervent, and all business. It takes a proactive commitment on our part to set aside the time and effort to be strong in prayer and to give energy to our praying. Colossians 4:2 says we are to “continue earnestly in prayer.” That’s what it means to be a “prayer warrior.” Hand-to-hand combat with issues of daily living, fiercely fought in front of our Father—that is what committed Christian prayer looks like.

I’ve learned that Satan trembles when he sees the least of God’s children on their knees. Praise given to God causes the enemy to be incredibly uncomfortable. Whatever he wants to do, he has to work ten times harder to do it when God’s people are praying.

The Warrior’s Prayer is a poetic prayer based on Ephesians 6 that helps you pray on the spiritual armor God has given you and prepares you for daily spiritual battle.

Heavenly Father,
Your warrior prepares for battle
Today I claim victory over Satan by
putting on the whole armor of God!

I put on the Girdle of Truth!
May I stand firm in the truth of Your Word
so I will not be a victim of Satan’s lies.

I put on the Breastplate of Righteousness!
May it guard my heart from evil
so I will remain pure and holy,
protected under the blood of Jesus Christ.

I put on the Shoes of Peace!
May I stand firm in the Good News of the
Gospel so your peace will shine through
me and be a light to all I encounter.

I take the Shield of Faith!
May I be ready for Satan’s firey darts
of doubt, denial, and deceit so I will not be
vulnerable to spiritual defeat.

I put on the Helmet of Salvation
May I keep my mind focused on You
so Satan will not have a stronghold
on my thoughts.

I take the Sword of the Spirit!
May the two-edged sword of Your Word
be ready in my hands so I can expose the
tempting words of Satan.

By faith your warrior has put on
the whole armor of God!

I am prepared to live this day
in spiritual victory!

Thank you Chad for sharing this.

A few important attitude stances we need to be clothed in, by faith. Too often we can and do yield to the lies and then cry, "HELP Lord!" instead of facing the right direction to start with.

May folks be encouraged that God is faithful and the covering of His Love is more than able to keep us and give us the victory.

If we are weakened ourselves, how useful will our prayers be for others?

Thank you for sharing this.

It's especially notable to me, as for the past month, I've contemplated directing a "campaign" of spiritual warfare, gathering others to pray, against something that has been personally troubling me for a long time.

Although, while reflecting on it, the Holy Spirit also indicated to me to be mindful of the enemy's retaliation, and for me not to be reckless in how I approach this.
