Stressing about college

For the last four years, I knew it was coming but I still feel like I am being bomb barded by which college to go to. I am still not exactly sure what I want to do, or be in this life and as of college its up in the air. My father wants me to stay home and go to a local college, but I want to go out of state to a new place, as sort of a breath of fresh air. I am still not sure what to do, or how to explain it to my father. I don't know if I should disobey him and go with my heart, or stay and be a bit sad.

Fathers are wise, generally speaking. Probably not going to go too wrong listening to your dad. Our own hearts constantly mislead us.

Going to a local college saves a lot of money and often is a lot more conducive to learning. Especially if you live at home. Doing 2 years at a community college or similar, then transferring to finish up your degree works out well for a lot of people.

But, then again, who said college is a requirement. = D. Debt sucks.

Blessings,

Travis

Thank You Travis,
I feel the part about debt, that has been worrying me the most. I have a lot of thinking to do and lately it just seems too much to fathom. In my family its been two options medical or law degree anything that makes money. I just
am not completely sure those things are for me. Actually I'm not sure what really is for me.

With love,
Liv

My Father, Thou art the guide of my youth
Jeremiah 3:4

Greetings @Livie

Take it to the Lord in prayer. Also pray together with your family too if they are Christians.

What the Lord wants in your life and to be in His will is most important
Seek after Him and all else will fall into place

The Lord will show you and your father which college and which pathway is right for you take if you wait on Him and ask Him for clear signs.

He leadeth me, O blessed thought!
O words with heav’nly comfort fraught!
Whate’er I do, where’er I be
Still ’tis God’s hand that leadeth me.

He leadeth me, He leadeth me,
By His own hand He leadeth me;
His faithful follower I would be,
For by His hand He leadeth me
.

Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom,
Sometimes where Eden’s bowers bloom,
By waters still, over troubled sea,
Still ’tis His hand that leadeth me.

Lord, I would place my hand in Thine,
Nor ever murmur nor repine;
Content, whatever lot I see,
Since ’tis my God that leadeth me*

When I was young I rarely listened to my parents. Now that I am "much" older I can see they were almost always right.

I'm not saying to disobey your dad in any way whatsoever, but you also need to live your own life. If you are going into college, as am I, this is the time of your life when you can begin to make your own decisions. Daddy's always want to keep their babies for as long as they can, and the love of a father is so wonderful. But I think God also wants you to do what makes YOU happy.
As long as you pray and get the go-ahead from God, I don't see what would keep you venturing out in the world and making a life of your own. :)

Hope I may of helped in some way,

What will inevitably decide on your choice of post secondary education will be which institution will give you the biggest bang for your buck for the career path you wish to pursue. Distance means time, access, costs, and peace of mind for both of you. Ultimately, it is your decision. Neither your earthly nor heavenly fathers are blind to that. While the former may not like it, the latter will certainly work with it. Even the astronauts never traveled far enough that God couldn't keep in touch. He even provided a means for their earthly parents to keep in touch. Take heart.

Cheers,
John
