I don’t think any one TV channel will suffice for our dear children. Playschool, Sesame Street, Thomas the Tank Engine, Budgie the Helicopter Hi-Five, Brumm The Car, Postman Pat, Sponge Bob, The X-Men, Pokémon along with The Wiggles were shows my wife and I thought were perfect for our children to watch in their developing years. I commend those who have no TV that have the strength to not watch it. You are most brave people.
Our Children are now adults and they watch shows I would not. I know deep in my heart they watch TV now with a heart that would not let their standards down for some crappy comedy that has sexual innuendos, excess violence etc…
Our Children (21&20) are smart enough to avoid a certain show. We never let them watch Charmed, Sailor Moon or any other occult type shows in their youth. They have never complained to us as adults WHY did you not let us watch this or that show.
Each to their own, do what you’ve got to do to keep your heart and mind at peace.
Blessings Always….
Hi fallen. You said something that alarmed me. Please don't take any of this post as judgemental, as I agree with many of the shows you have listed. However, one of the shows you have listed really caught my eye, and I thought I would warn you.
As someone who has fiddled with the occult in the past (Yu-Gi-Oh cards, various demonic video games, etc), and understanding that you want to keep your children out of the occult, I would highly recommend and exhort you, as a sister in Christ, against Pokemon. I understand that there are many here with different viewpoints on various things, and I understand about freedom in Christ, so this post is only a warning from my personal experience dealing with Pokemon. I hope you don't mind me saying this, but I really feel like I should say something, as I wouldn't feel right if I left you in the dark.
I have struggled with this myself, as I used to love Pokemon. So again, please don't be offended by me saying this:
~ In an episode of Pokemon called "Hocus Pokemon", there was a witch who turned the main character, Ash Ketchum, into the Pokemon "Pikachu" using a sorcery spell.
~ Pokemon have different powers, as you probably already know. One of these powers is Psychic powers. There is even an attack called "Psychic" which is described in the video game as "a strong telekinetic force."
In the Bible, Psychics/witches are condemned:
"“Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the Lord your God." (Leviticus 19:31)
~ In Pokemon, there are also "Dark" Pokemon, as well as "Ghost" Pokemon, which use various attacks of a dark nature. In another episode of Pokemon, called "The Ghost of Maiden's Peak", there is a ghost apparition (not a Pokemon) who disguises itself under different themes, both as an old woman and a young woman. The characters in the episode use various practices, including the use of "ghost stickers" (a japanese ghost-keep-back method) in order to keep the ghost away.
I would highly exhort you to study for yourself by watching these episodes, as well as watching more of the series to get a better understanding of what I mean when I say that Pokemon has occult themes.
Don't take my word for it. Rather, I ask that you would pray, seek God, and ask Him if he says whether or not Pokemon is occult-driven or not.
As a sister in Christ... -Glow
