Ye are not your own, for ye are bought with a price
1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise.

Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee.

Take my voice, and let me sing always, only, for my King.
Take my lips, and let them be filled with messages from Thee.

Take my silver and my gold; not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect, and use every power as Thou shalt choose.

Take my will, and make it Thine; it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own; it shall be Thy royal throne.

Take my love, my Lord, I pour at Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be ever, only, all for Thee.

Frances Ridley Havergal
1874

These beautiful words were written in 1874 shorly before Frances Havergals death. I am currently reading her book written around the words of this hymn....'Kept for the Masters use'

She wrote:

'Take my life!' We have said it or sung it before the Lord ...many times; but if it were only once whispered in His ear with full purpose of heart, should we not believe that He heard it?

And if we know that He heard it, should we not believe that He has answered it, and fulfilled this our hearts desire?

For with Him hearing means heeding. Then why should we doubt that He verily did take our lives when we offered them- our bodies when we presented them....

Yes He who is able and willing to take unto Himself is no less able and willing to keep for Himself'

It amazes me daily to think that He has taken our lives into His keeping...we are His....we are children of the King of kings...wow.

Let us fully and whole heartedly consecrate our lives to Him.
His love deserves no less

I will add comments and quotes from the book prayerfully to this thread. May they be a blessing to the reader

I, the Lord search the heart
Jeremiah 17:10

So beautiful and annointed by the Lord. So many new songs out today are sung as though they are "looking" for God (by so-called christians). The words and music sound like lost souls clanging out something that tries to call itself music.

Thanks for posting this.

Dear brothers and sisters in the Lord.....

What a beautiful and challenging study of moments I have had.

Doesn’t it almost become a routine to commit a new year, a new month or a new week to the Lord?
But let us consider the huge importance of each moment…..how important you may ask is a moment. Well what do the scriptures say about moments…..

We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump
1 Corinthians 15:51-52

Peter said to her, “How could you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also.”
At that moment she fell down at his feet and died
Acts 5:9-10 (NIV)

Pretty serious…….eternal matters hang upon moments….a neighbour of ours recently died in an explosion, it was said he died instantly…in a moment his eternal state was determined.

Think of our everyday lives…..and O how important it is to commit to the Lord’s keeping our every moment.

In a moment ….a smile or a hug can comfort and warm a lonely, grieving soul.

In a rash moment in a conversation…we can say a spiteful word or an angry assault and deeply hurt the listener.

And even more than this think of the Lord and what He did for us...

How awesome to know that in that moment on the cross at Calvary He secured our eternal salvation

How amazing, how humbling it is to know that He cares for us each and every moment

What is man, that Thou shouldest magnify him? and that Thou shouldest set Thine heart upon him?
And that Thou shouldest visit him every morning, and try him every moment?
Job 7:17-18

Frances Havergal writes on moments with regard to this line of her hymn

What proportion of your moments do you think enough for Jesus?
How many for the spirit of praise, and how many for the spirit of heaviness?
Be explicit about it, and come to an understanding.
If He is not to have all then how much?
Calculate, balance and apportion.
You will not be able to do this in heaven- you know it will all be praise there: but you are free to halve you portion of praise here……
Yet-He loves you every moment, waters you every moment, watches you unslumberingly, cares for you unceasingly.
Yet He died for you……
Shall you or I remember all this love and hesitate to give all our moments up to Him?
Let us intrust Him with them, and ask Him to keep them all, every single one, for His own beloved self, and fill them with all His praise, and let them all be to His praise!

May we wholeheartedly commit each and every moment to the Lord for His keeping......and what a blessing each moment will be.

How precious also are Thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
Psalm 139:17

Take my hands

And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish Thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish Thou it.
Psalm 90:17

Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of Thy love.

What is in your hands dear brother and sister?

For if in all sincerity we are asking the Lord to take and keep our hands then we must examine what is in them.

Havergal wrote:
If He says what is in thine hand? Let us examine honestly whether it is something He can use to His glory or not. If not do not let us hesitate in dropping it.
It may be something we do not like to part with: but the Lord is able to give thee much more and ...will enable us to count those things loss which were gain to us....
If our hands are full of other things, they cannot be filled with the things that are Jesus Christ's...there must be emptying before there can be complete filling.

What is in your hands?
Ungodly books, playing cards, drugs, alcohol, instruments of cruelty ....things that tempt you into sin and away from fellowship with the Lord. Look at your hands...and do not hold onto anything that could not be used for the Lord and to His glory.

Consider the hands of Christ.... strong, skilled, healing, loving, and forgiving hands. Hands that touched lepers, that gave sight to the blind, that held children on His knee. May our hands move only at the impulse of His love in beautiful service to the Lord.

The hands of Jesus wounded pierced and bleeding reached out to a lost world and said I love you, I forgive you.....such wondrous love.

O Lord Take my hands empty them of self that they may be filled with Thee moving only at the impulse of Thy love.

And Jesus put forth His hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
Matthew 8:3

Beautiful thoughts on hands and how we should use them

I look forward to the rest of it.

Thank you

Take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee.

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!
Isaiah 52:7

Dear brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ our Lord

Take a few moments to think about your feet?
What do they do
Where do they go

Where have your feet taken you this past week?

What service have they done for Jesus?

Havergal writes:

'..These very feet of ours are purchased for Christ's service by the precious drops which fell from His own torn and pierced feet upon the cross. They are to be His errand runners. How can we let the world, the flesh, have use of what has been purchased with such payment?...

Shall the devil have use of them? Oh, no, of course not!....Yet, if Jesus has not satan has......All that is not kept for Jesus, is left for self or the world, and therefore for satan....'

If we are to commit your feet to the Lord and ask Him to keep them for His service, then we must in our hearts continually seek His will and guidance.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and He delighteth in his way
Psalm 37:23

He will lead us in beautiful service for Him, whether it be in proclaiming the gospel or running errands of love for those in need.

Let us follow on hard after the Lord....seeking to walk in the steps of our beloved Master Whose beautiful feet were pierced for us, Whose walk was perfect, Who keeps our feet from slipping.....

Should we not willingly cry from our hearts:

O Lord Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus

Our tongue.....O what a powerful member of our body.

For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Matthew 12:34

In a rash moment our tongues can injure, condemn and hurt others.

Without thought, or consideration, how easy it can be to sing along to worldly secular music

As Havergal says in her book:
Let us pray that grace may be more and more poured into our lips as it was into His, so that our speech may be alway with grace. May they be sweet, and lovely, even as 'His lips, like lillies, dropping sweet smelling myrrh'

O Lord may our lips and voices share Your love in this lost world....and only ever glorify Thee

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
Psalm 19:14

The Gracious Lips of Jesus

Take my voice and let me sing
Always, only for my King
Keep my lips that they may be
Filled with messages from Thee

Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into Thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.
Psalm 45;2

A few more thoughts to share
Let us consider our lips and voices and what flows from us in the light of the beautiful lips of our Lord Jesus Christ
And may we say from our hearts
O Lord Take my lips and my voice and let them be only for Thee

From Spurgeons Sermon...The Gracious Lips of Jesus

Not merely did He speak as the dew, nor did His message simply drop as the small rain, it "POURED" from His lips!
Whenever He spoke, a copious stream of gracious words flowed from Him like a very cataract of eloquence.
Jesus Christ had not a little Grace, but it was "poured into" Him.
Not a vial of oil on His head, but He had a cruse and a horn of oil
emptied upon Him.
Grace was poured into His lips
......

Imagination’s utmost stretch cannot conceive of anything more gracious—
and the contemplation of the most devoted Christian cannot think of any words more majestic in goodness,
more tender in sympathy,
more full of honey
and more luscious in their sweetness than the gracious words that proceeded out of the lips
of Jesus Christ!

CH Spurgeon

May we only ever speak words that glorify our King

And all bare Him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth.
And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?
Luke 4:22

The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine, saith the LORD of hosts
Haggai 2:8

Take my silver and my gold
Not a mite would I withhold

Dear brothers and sisters

I won’t write too much here….except let us remember all we have is the Lord’s and may we take time to pray and ask the Lord to guide us in all our spending, giving and money matters….to His glory

A snippet of Frances Havergal’s writings on this verse of her hymn

Ah! If we had stood at the foot of the cross and watched the tremendous payment of our redemption with the precious blood of Christ
If we had seen that awful price told out, drop by drop, from His own dear patient brow and torn hands until it was all paid and the central word of eternity was uttered
‘It is finished’
Should we not have been ready to say
Not a mite will I withhold

Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
2 Corinthians 9:7

And He said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

Luke 12:15
