I'm thinking of adding a possible Talk Jesus webmail system.

This would give members webmail access from Talk Jesus forums, here. Members would have username@talkjesus.com address, send and receive emails and attachments, etc. Options such as mailbox quotas, limits on numbers/types of attachments, a message trailer ("Free mail at talkjesus.com!") at the end of each message, etc. are all available as well.

This feature would be granted only to senior members (members who have made at least 250 posts. Its a great way to get free email, show your loyalty and support for Talk Jesus, reach out to others through free indirect marketing of you@talkjesus.com email address, and one-in-all access (forums, email, private message). The server has a built in spam protection system as well.

Please copy / paste the text below and insert your message per subject line.

Go for it chum.........Not my general mode of expression....... but it is what I would say at this time.

Support you .....all the way

I think it sounds like a great idea. I can't think of any cons about it.

I'm not opposed to the idea, but I don't see any real value in it for me. Anyone who wants to contact me persopnally can do so by p.m. or the e-mail address listed in my profile.

I'm trying to keep it simple. I don't need another e-mail address.

My Feedback:
It sounds like a good idea brother. If the interface is good to access the mail and if it integrates nicely with the forum, I think it will work very well.

Pros:
Many people will sign up for the email address, based on the fact that Talk Jesus is known for it's security and all around spam free approach.
I also think that if it's easy to use, it will become someone's primary email address.
Cons:
There are many free mail services already. Dependant on your mail quota size, I wonder if it would appeal to everyone.
Questions:
I use Outlook mainly to access my mail as it's easier for me to use brother. Will you allow a pop server in order for people to configure their mail programs?

I'm for it. It is a good service and I believe it would bring glory to God.

My Feedback:
I like the idea of promoting Talk Jesus on our email. Cool idea. I currently use yahoo and googlemail.
Pros:
A great way to spread the word about this site.
Cons:
Some people may try and get their posts up fast to have the facility.
Questions:
Would there be limits like yahoo have on sending an email to a group of friends?

I think its a great idea.... you have my support. Let the Lord be your guide.
May the Lord continue to lead and preserve you.

I think it'll be a great service from TJ but personally I would prefer to user my current email because that one has all my important emails and contacts. It would be a good idea to sacrifice another domain for this service so members dont misuse it. eg: member@tjmail.com or member@talkjesusmail.com.... :)

After a little bit of thinking, I'm afraid I may have to ditch this idea for the following reasons:

- prevent abuse/spamming
- prevent damaging the reputation of talkjesus.com due to such abusers

Other factors:

- people who use all-in-one mail services which include address / contacts, calendars, IMAP, etc. This system would be strictly email only, so it is pretty much lacking in a sense.

Thanks for the feedback. If you have suggestions still, feel free to share.

Chad, thats not a bad decision. I had a mail system for a forum and sometimes members would register for a free email address and use that to register at the forums. The email accounts gets expired or unused and incase you need to send an announcement, that would not be possible. Abuse of the service is another thing. :)
