On March 1st this year i went into labour with my daughter, it was about 11pm and my son was at his grandparents. My husband, my mum and myself drove to the hospital just to be told i was only 1cm dilated and to go home when the contractions were closer together or you cant cope with the pain, so i went home, an hour later i was back i couldn't cope with the pain in my back.
I was examined again and told i was only 3-4 cms dilated, at this point i asked for an epiduralwithin 5mins of asking i needed to push i was examined again and i was 9cms dilated, to late for the epidural i was convinced i couldnt get through this birth without.
I guess the Lord didnt want me to have an epidural.
So i survived on gas and air which stopped having any effect after about 20 mins. then i got through it with a mixture of screaming and praying.
The worst pain wasnt the contractions but the pain in my back and i didn't understand why my back hurt so much, i hadnt had any of this with my son.I kept praying Lord get me through this because i cant do it more, i cant push.
The pain in my back was so bad that i thought i wasnt going to walk again, that i had done some really bad damage to my back. All the time i just kept praying. Eventually 3 hrs after starting to push my little girl was born, the pain in my back disappeared and i could still walk. God had indeed got me through it and in doing so taught me that i can do all things through christ who strengthens me (phil 4:13).
And for the next week i couldnt stop saying thank you Lord.
The pain in my back was caused by my daughter having her back to my back, not a good position for the baby to be in especially for the mum.
That was the worst pain i have ever had, but sometimes the only way God can teach us anything worth learning is the painful way. I NOW KNOW WITHOUT DOUBT THAT PHIL 4:13 IS TRUE ICAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME.
