We as Christians should have several things on our mind when we start this journey of faith, these stay with us all of our lives and even beyond this flesh they remain with ourselves when we get to eternal bliss. One of these is our calling to be the body of Christ. His body today and tomorrow, working together for him on this earth, living and loving to the best of our abilities, living and loving in Christ and for Christ.

The body of Christ is composed of the various Christian fellowships exhibiting the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Living and loving with the grace granted us from the Lord above, united in our quest for Christ, united in our bodies being hosts of His Spirit.

and to some, His “gift” was that they should be apostles; to some prophets; to some, evangelists; to some, pastors and teachers; to knit God’s Holy people together for the work of service to build up the body of Christ, until we reach unity in faith and knowledge of the Son of God and form the perfect man fully mature with the fullness of Christ Himself.
The we shall no longer be children, or tossed one way and another, and carried hither and thither by every new gust of teaching, at the mercy of all the tricks people play and their unscrupulousness in deliberate deception. If we live by the truth and in love, we shall grow completely into Christ, who is the head by whom the whole body is fitted and joined together, every joint adding its own strength, for each individual part to work according to its function. So the body grows until it has built itself up in love.’

Ephesians 4:11-16

Spiritual unity as defined here, spiritual unity as I see it here is the unity that exists between two or more Christians who have the Spirit dwelling within them. Living the life decreed for them by the Lord, loving as the Lord has graced them to love, working within the role that the Lord planned for them, individual yet joined, joined in His love; joined in His grace; joined in His mercy; joined in His vision and His grace. Though they may not agree on doctrine, though they may not agree on how to worship and will infact do this differently, they are joined and united together by Christ, as one in His love; as one in brotherly love with each other.
This unity, this blessing of togetherness brings about spiritual health. For when we share the truth together, when we share Gods word together we grow not only stronger but also healthier. We grow healthier in love and unity, and when we meet together and share together, we allow Christ even more into our lives. As we know Jesus is the Word of the Lord, and the Word of God is the Bible. Therefore, when we share these words, and we share them with open hearts how can they not affect us. For when we meet does the Lord not meet there with us, so when we meet with the Lord with us, and share His Word how much more beautiful a time this must be, and is. This will bring about a stirring of the Spirit within us, resulting in spiritual growth.

‘let us be concerned for each other, to stir a response in love and good works. Do not be absent yourself from your own assemblies, as some do, but encourage each other; the more so as you see the day drawing near’.
Hebrews 10:23-25

Do we not have there, directly the above? Does it not state that we are to be together with our own denomination, and at the same time together with all differing denominations? For together we will stir up the Spirit and have a renewal.

Dear Lord I pray that we may come together in the unity that You have hoped for us. That we may realise that this is Your decree, that this is Your desire. For You created us all to be different, to have differing graces and differing gifts, to worship in different buildings, to praise You in separate ways, and to when united to praise and worship You by the love we show to each other.

God bless
