There was an older lady who lived alone and decided to buy a parrot to help keep her company. She visited a pet store and the clerk there recommended a parrot there that was very smart, not only repeating words spoken, but seeming to put together sentences that made some sense. The lady was impressed and bought the parrot bringing it home. Now the lady tended to have some bad language at times when at home and frustrated over something. The bird seemed to focus on repeating her bad language, and it made the lady a bit angry. Then when she had company over, the bird would repeat the bad language over and over, embarrassing her. One day when the parrot was speaking bad language, she angrily told the parrot to shut up and the parrot responded by doing more and more of the same. In anger, she grabbed the bird and put it in the freezer shutting the door. About 30 seconds later, she realized what a dumb thing she had done, and quickly opened the freezer door, to get her bird. The bird walked to the edge of the freezer with its head hung down, and it verbally apologized to the lady for all the foul language it had said and that it promised it would respect her and not make her embarrassed anymore. The lady was astounded, not only was the bird speaking full sentences, but it fit the situation well and the lady responded thanking the bird and forgiving it for its bad behavior. As the lady took the bird over to its perch, the parrot looked at the lady and said, "What was it the chicken in the freezer did, that angered you?"
