Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NKJV
Just as a good parent comforts his child when it is suffering, our perfect heavenly Father is always ready to comfort His children when they are going through trials and difficulties.
Our God always knows what we need, and He always knows the best way to meet that need. Sometimes He comforts His people with just the calming assurance of His presence, and sometimes He sends human agents to speak words of comfort. Either way, He is the ultimate source of comfort.
Think of the times when God provided you much-needed comfort and encouragement. Then purpose in your heart to “pay it forward” and allow God to use you as a source of comfort to others around you.
Prayer: Father, I can think of so many times when You encouraged and strengthened me when I needed it—sometimes with Your mere presence when I was going through dark and difficult times and sometimes through the comforting words and actions of others. I want You to use me as a source of comfort to others who need it.
