Ezekiel 40:3 – Behold, there was a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of brass, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring reed; and he stood in the gate. (Ezekiels’ guide)
Guides are very useful. They help us in hunting and fishing trips, mountain climbing, hiking, safari photo trips and one closer to my heart- tour guides. A guide is not a free gift- we must pay a price to have his or her service, and we expect a job well done. It is not correct etiquette for us to tell our guide how to do his job- he has been well trained, or we wouldn’t enlist his service. He knows where to take us, the safest way to get there, and give us helpful information along the way. Yes, a guide is a wonderful help.
In the spiritual realm, the Holy Spirit is our guide. Have you ever thought about that? Jesus paid the price for us to have the Holy Spirit, and He is well equipped and so willing to be our guide. Even when we know this, sometimes we try to tell Him how to do His job. We want to show Him what we want, but we must let Him show us what He wants. For... He is the guide.
He is empowered with God’s own knowledge and wisdom, and He will lead us in the correct manner. He knows our final destination and definitely knows the safest way to get there. Oh that we would listen to Him speaking to our hearts and minds! Along life’s journey He gives us comfort, peace, joy, wisdom and a variety of other wonderful things. Thank you, Lord. For our heavenly escort.
