The Indescribable Christ

“Never man spake like this man.”

These words spoken by officers sent to arrest Jesus are mild words compared to the multiple names or descriptions assigned to Him by the writers of Holy Scripture. If you question why there are hundreds even thousands of references to Jesus Christ in the Holy Book, there is a great answer. He was, and still is, “indescribable”. Every writer of the Bible inspired and guided by the Holy Ghost never tired of adding another anointed word picture of God’s Divine Son. He is altogether wonderful’ He is utterly indescribable; and He can never be fully understood until we awake in His likeness at our resurrection.



All of the writers of the Bible made an earnest and anointed approach to describe the eternal “Word of God”. Even this title “Word of God”, one of the greatest of His names, leaves the mind of a hungry saint grasping for more. Isaiah used one of the classic titles when he called Him “Emmanuel”. “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14) Indeed, He is “God with us” as Isaiah stated; and a few sentences later, he gave five great proofs of the Divine title “Emmanuel” when he called Him “Wonderful”, “Counselor”, “Mighty God”, “Everlasting Father”, and “Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6-7)



The seven “Jehovah” names of Christ in the First Testament paint one of the clearest pictures of His fullness. “Jehovah-Elohim” means self-existing, “Jehovah-Jirah” describes His unfailing provisions, “Jehovah-Nissi” – our banner, “Jehovah-Rapha” – our physician, and “Jehovah-Shalom” – our peace; these names touch fabulous areas of His sufficiency. He also is called “Jehovah-Tzidkenu” - our righteousness, and “Jehovah-Rahi” – our shepherd. Plus, the New Testament calls Him “Jehovah-Sabaoath” – the Lord of the mighty angelic host.



Solomon reached right into the heart of God’s revelations of His Son and gave Him titles of majesty. He called Him the “Rose of Sharon”, “Well-Beloved”, “Lily of the Valley”, and the “Chiefest Among Ten Thousand”. (Song of Solomon 2:1;5:3) Isaiah continues this theme of majestic names. He spoke of Him as the “Man of Sorrows”, “Branch”, Arm of the Lord”, “Comforter”, “Tender Plant”, and the “Cornerstone”.



No book of the Bible rises above the book of John in its description of our Christ. John presents Him as the “I Am”, “Bread of Life”, “Lamb of God”, “Teacher”, and “Water of Life”. This beloved disciple presented Him as the “Door”, “Resurrection”, “Life”, and “True Vine”. Job, in his despair, got a glimpse of the “Redeemer”. (Job 19:25) Even with all of these great names, Jesus is still unsearchable.



The two names of Jesus that excel all others are “Son of God” and “Son of Man”. The contrast of these two names takes us into the realm of His highest revelation. Nothing supercedes His person as God and man existing simultaneously. He was God, and He became man, but never ceased to be God. He was man, and when He finished the revelation of His manhood, He took that manhood with Him back into the realm of pure Godhood. Yet, when we see the “Eternal Christ”, we will see the wounds of His manhood. Apostle Paul describes both of these breathtaking portraits of this Blessed Son of God. “Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” (Philippians 2:6-8) Such truth defies the highest of human wisdom. This God-man put on the robe of flesh, and wore it with such divinity and dignity that when He laid it aside, it could not corrupt or decay because it was spotless, because where there is no sin there can be no corruption. The flesh lay in the tomb awaiting His return to pick it up and wipe away every spot of death, except the scars of memories.



Yet, even as He wore this flesh, the glory of who He was could not be hidden. Paul said of Him, “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son. And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.” (Hebrews 1:3-6) Only the spiritually blinded fail to see the glory shining through the flesh. The study of His life is to watch the contrast of the man and God in one person. Endless books have tried to both magnify Him and to destroy Him, and yet He is the most misunderstood of men. How do you describe God in a man, and how do you destroy a man who was God? Both efforts can never be complete. He is indescribable, and above all, He is indestructible. Because He lives, those who will dare believe, live also.

Very nice post sister thank you for sharing. Jesus Christ is most definitely indescribable and for those who truly love Him, He is One that never ceases to leave us all speechless the same with His mighty works and blessings on our lives - ultimately becoming GOD in Flesh and paying the price on the Cross to grant us Salvation. That is indescribable at the ultimate from where I see it. His Grace beyond comprehension. I AM is our Savior

Well because she is a female, she is a sister. Just like John the baptist is a brother.

The Face Of God


We must look beyond the baby in the manger until we see “the face of God” in the man. When Apostle Paul said of Christ that He is “the express image of His (Father’s) person,” he was clearly calling Jesus, “the face of God.” Any person that rejects Jesus Christ, or denies Him in their prayer life by allowing prayer to God, excluding the name of Jesus, has hidden the “face of God.” The world does not mind God as long as they do not see His face. One of the sharpest condemnations in the Bible was written to warn men of the dire results of rejecting the person of Jesus Christ after coming to faith in Him. The Holy Bible prophetically proclaims that the person who, having met Jesus Christ, but then “turning from faith in Him” as incapable of repentance.

Any rejection, put-down, or denial of Jesus Christ as the one and only “face of God” is called by Apostle Paul, “…crucify(ing) to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put(ting) him to an open shame.” Listen to the Apostle’s warning. “For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come. If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.” (Hebrews 6:4-6) The Father made the ultimate sacrifice by sending His only begotten Son into this world to reveal Himself to us, and to deny Him is heartbreaking.

The First Testament is filled with the passion of godly men and women searching for the Christ and only finding Him as a Lamb being slain on an altar, or a brazen serpent erected on a type of cross-pole. They found salvation and hope in the distant view they had of Him, and waited patiently for the fullness of days to come. Multitudes of such hopeful saints sacrificed their all upon the altar of faith, never viewing the “face of God.” Their great faith, without sight of Him, was rewarded with incredible miracles. “Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.” (Hebrews 11:33-34) These saints were identified as those, “(Of whom the world was not worthy they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.” (Hebrews 11:38)

Now, we live in the New Testament era where God is no longer a mystery hidden in symbols and types, but revealed in His Son. The Son of God stepped out of time and space, walked right into our world, and gave us a faith that has an anchor, not just a distant promise. We can look on Him, we can read His great revelations and portraits, and we can walk with Him, by His Spirit right into the realm of His Father. Our faith, by the “face of God” in His Son, is dynamic and bold, and we are waiting, with this incredible fellowship we enjoy by His Spirit, for Him to split the sky above us, and come again to receive His own.

When the Son of God came into this world, the religious crowd scorned Him and the authorities were fearful of Him, but the demon possessed knew Him, and cried out, “…I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.” (St. Luke 4:34b) The Father spoke from His Heavenly Jerusalem three times and was heard by His disciples and others that were present. Each time, He said, “…This is my beloved Son…” (St.Mark 9:7) or “…Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Mark 1:11) After the Lord began to reveal the depth of Himself, the disciples began to see Him as indeed, “the face of God.” As He began to say Divine things such as, “Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life…” (St John 6:54), the multitudes were offended and left Him. He said to His disciples, “…Will ye also go away?” (St. John 6:67) That’s when Apostle Peter gave Him that great exclamation, “And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.” (St. John 6:69) They had seen the “face of God”, and knew who He really was.

The apostasy of this last generation will reveal just how wicked the heart of man has become. Noted ministers, well-learned and Biblically knowledgeable, are falling like flies before the blaspheming multitudes. The world says, “come over here and be a part of our new language and political correctness and we will swoon at your feet.” They say, “We love God, too, but Jesus name is offensive to the crowds and we must make the church non-threatening so we can reach the world.” And for whom are they reaching the world? They are reaching the world for a faceless God. This faceless God actually is the devil because the Bible proclaims that Satan, “is the god of this world.”

Are you willing to defy the growing multitudes? The Bible is the revelation of Jesus Christ, not the revelation of God. The Son of God is God’s only face to this lost world. It was the Father that chose to reveal Himself in His Son. To claim the Father without the Son is a totally false religion and cannot but damn every soul that falls prey to its deception. Any person, minister, or church member that is willing to deny Jesus to please this world has “crucified the Son of God afresh and put Him to an open shame.” And that before a world that is at the door of eternity.

I must add in regards to the former question about Mary, venerating the "blessed Mother of Jesus" is just another form of rejection, put-down, and denial of Jesus Christ as the one and only “face of God”

Jesus: More Than an Itty Bitty Baby

This Christmas millions will for a short time focus thoughts and hearts on a tiny baby. Even some shopping malls showcase scenes of Nativity, for merchants know, yes they know that Jesus is the source of Christmas, and Christmas profits.

And so the Baby is squirreled away within the very temple of mammon. In sleep, exuding peace and serenity, He is displayed as tiny, meek, and mild.

The image while not false is not wholly true. For while shoppers bustle, while carolers sing, while sellers sell, the Ancient Power sleeps not, nor ever did, nor ever will.

Come with me now and watch awhile. Look with me at the tiny babe enclosed in strawy manger. Before our watching eyes He transforms Himself.

He morphs into a rugged man clothed in white. Still we watch, and then we see only the dazzling image of one clothed in the whitest of light. And how it happens we know not, only that it does, but we see ourselves transported back—back to the very beginning of all things. We hear peals of laughter coming from the Dazzling One. Back, back He stretches His arm, and then with a fluid throwing motion He casts points of light into the darkened sky.

But wait, for points of light they are not—they are stars—and we continue to watch as He throws again and again. We see Orion formed in the blink of an eye, and then with another toss the big dipper is pasted into place, Cassiopeia, the familiar big "W" is hurled into the ebony darkness. Then He grabs a huge handful of light and flings a whole galaxy into the cosmos, and then another, and yet another. This dazzling One—this Baby transformed before our very eyes has become the joyful designer, architect, creator of our glorious world and a million others. Yes this itty-bitty baby snuggled warmly in Mary's arms is Himself the awesome Creator of a hundred million galaxies. "All things came into being through Him; and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being"(John 1:3).

O Ancient of Days! O Power who but appears to sleep! You were there before all eternity—there with the Father, delighting in His presence and He in yours. Joyously, together you made the worlds a beautiful cosmos—your marvelous gift to the sons and daughters of men.

O Lord of glory! You laid aside glory to take on human flesh, to be "God with us." Jesus, I know it is a baby doll that sleeps in the crèche, for you Lord of Lords and King of Kings, sleep not. Master and Friend, it is we who sleep. Be merciful to frenzied, sleepwalking, bustling shoppers. Wake us up to you, O Ancient, sleepless Power, enfleshed in tiny baby.
