Does anyone trust in the Living Bible instead of The King James or The NIV?

The living is kind of a paraphrased one. It's not exact scripture if you will, but it is written like speech. Really I think NASB is nice for the straightforward scripture.

I have a living, and it leaves you to the translation presented instead of letting you translate. This can be bad and good. Good if you are new to bible study, but bad if the guy made a mistake. I haven't read much of mine, but I would say to get a study bible. You can get a great study bible at **** It's amazing.

I have heard of this tool called like "illumina" or something like that. It's like a computer software bible with that guy that they call "the walking bible" commentaries on and explains the harder stuff. It is said to have tons of cool features.

It's a matter of preference really. There is another paraphrase called "The Message" which is more contemporary compared to the living. Anyway I recommend the NASB version of the study bible you can get at ****

God Bless,

Jculver

EDIT: for some reason I can't post a link to that site where I left the ****'s. I know the site is very good and perfectly Christian so it is gty org that is "gty org" but instead of the space it is a dot lol. Sorry if this is breaking rules I just want to help the guy out :D

Thank you Jculver. I was just curious.

Please tell me, what do you think about the Scripture 2 Corinthians 11:1-33, in The Living Bible compared to others? Sister in Christ, *genesis!:girl:

Wow Ok. That is definitly not a translation of those particular verses I agree with. "The Message" (as I mentioned before) is a bit closer, but honestly I think the NASB reads almost just as clearly as a paraphrase and makes perfect sense.

Sorry this reply was so late, but I wanted to check a few different translations.

One other thing I noticed in the living was that 1 Corinthians 7 starts out with Paul saying "These things seem right to me" or something like that, when that is not what he is saying at all. When he says "I say, and not the Lord" he is simply saying he is stating something new that Jesus didn't cover.

Anyway, I would either use The Message, or just get a Macarthur study bible :P NASB version is great.

Thank You

Thank you, jculver. I have the NIV Bible, but not the Study Bible, but my brother Guy does. I'll ask him to lend me his.
