O LORD, what are human beings that you should notice them, mere mortals that you should think about them? For they are like a breath of air; their days are like a passing shadow. Psalm 144:3-4 NLT

As the king of a great nation, David was obviously a man of amazing accomplishment. Yet in the above scripture passage, he marvels that such a great God—his God—would even think about a mere mortal like him…or the rest of humanity.

It’s not a bad thing for a man of God to marvel at the same thing today, is it?

God’s love for His people is a mystery—a wondrous, unfathomable mystery. Nothing about us makes us worthy of even the notice of an all-holy God, yet He thinks about us and loves us more deeply than we can comprehend. And why? Simply because love is the essence of who He is.

When you wake up in the morning, it’s not a bad idea to thank the Lord from your heart for allowing you to spend the coming day basking in His wonderful love.

Prayer: Father in heaven, I’m filled with wonder and awe that You, the most high God and Creator of all things, even notice me, let alone love me more deeply than I can comprehend. I am not worthy of Your love, but I thank You for it.
