I'm probably the only Christian in my group that didn't see the passion of Christ movie.Don't get me wrong, before its release I did a lot of Campaigning, word of mouth, spamming websites, carrying on debates. etc.
But when it came down to release date, I had no passion what so ever to see it, my friends invited me, my whole household invited me but I didn't go.

I've always been the rebellious type to society and its standards, if the crowd is going left I ask God can I go right. I saw churches renting out theaters, and buying tickets at the thousands. God why am I not happy, why does this trouble me.

Then I realise I was never going to see the movie, my support at the begining was my way of showing hollywood, you can make millions if Jesus is invited.

I'm probably scaring some..rizen where are you going with this :secret:?

well like I said before, I didn't see it and I know majority or maybe all of you saw it. I'm going to post some things that discouraged me from seeing it, so I need you to tell me if it's a must see or not.
Days after the movie was released I started doing research on what or who motivated Mel Gibson. Sadly I don't have the original sermons I got this info from, ( it's been four years) but it can be found if googled. The statements are facts so I'm not asking for a debate on Mel's beliefs or actions.

Lets begin, by sharing some stuff that discouraged me from the movie.

Ok so mel is catholic no big deal, his movie was based on Catholic mystical literature, inspired by nuns Anne Catherine and Mary of Agreda. Gibson also admitted to having visions or visitations of the nuns, which prompted him to make the film. There were also incidents on the set where he expereince supernatural moments, he was inspired to build his own church and had mass every morning during filiming days as a ritual to be in one mind with God and the dead nuns. Promotes mary in its portral of "Stations of the Cross."

Referring to the visions of Emmerich, Gibson said, "She supplied me with stuff I never would have thought of" (The New Yorker, 9/15/03).

Discusses Gibson's belief in "signs." Mentions 19th-century Augustinian nun, Anne Catherine Emmerich, whose visions of the Passion were published after her death, in 1824, in Clemens Brentano's book "The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ." Claims Gibson's film was influenced by the book. Gibson believes that there's no salvation outside the Catholic Church.....
Peter J. Boyer, A Reporter at Large, "The Jesus War," The New Yorker, September 15, 2003, p. 58

Vatican II: "No salus extra ecclesia - no salvation outside the church."

The fact that The Passion is produced by a staunch, traditional Catholic who is eager to win people to his Catholic faith through his movie should be of concern to Evangelicals who wish to protect their members from Catholic heresies. It is hopelessly inconsistent for Evangelicals to endorse a movie that says and shows things that are unbiblical, while committed to uphold the integrity and authority of the Bible...The Passion: A Review After Seeing the Movie

I know God can and will use whatever he chooses for his glory.

Its been four years now and I haven't seen the movie, where should I go from here.

After you vote you can explain the reason for your choice...( optional )

The thing with movies is that they can point out certain things from scripture that God would not want us to focus on so much.

Praise God.

Sister, Go see the blessed movie!!!

The bible says that Jesus are marred more than any man. This movie attempts to capture that, the best way a movie can. It can give just a small glimpse of what our Lord really went though, and help us more appreciate What was done the day of the cross.

Not only that, but we see a messenger of Satan move around the people and getting them riled up, just like he does today. I can see Paul trying to preach the gospel as Satan sent that messenger to get the people upset at him.

What great spiritual insight, and I was surprised how accurate it was showing the working of our enemy.

The movie is not 100 percent scriptural (Nothing salvation loosing though), However, I know God's hand was in it, and as you watch it, you will know the same thing.

Jesus Is Lord.

Thanks for you responds, I watched it online today( wouldn't spend money on it ), unfortunately I had to skip through parts because I really don't have a strong stomach for gruesome bloodly scenes.

I tried not to hold any bias towards the film while I was watching it, but the fact that I did get the " the real " behind scences of the movie, I caught myself saying..thats not in the bible, the devil is not a woman, where did that demon baby come from...and why did Jesus seem to get strength from Mary. I'm undecided but I do understand why the critics was concerned on the role Mary played.

Overall, it was a good excuted film despite the flaws. If the point was to elaborate on the pain inflicted Gibson indeed succeeded. The movie played on the emotions of the viewer giving us a graphic understanding of the possibilities of what took place that day.

Despite Gibson getting his script from these books
The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,The Mystical City of God and mixing it with scripture seem minimal now after watching it.

Maybe in this case the source is not as important as the final product.

I watch it, some might say you skip the best parts..but I honestly couldn't stomach it. There was one scene where he looked deformed as he was falling in slow motion. That was just hard to watch.

The only bad thing about the movie is that kids can't watch it. It was rated R for restricted..but I think '' R '' is for reminder.

I did my christian duty today by watching the Passion of the Christ.
yeah for me.

yea!!

You go girl!!!

Well, now you won't wonder what it was about. It reached a lot of emotions in the unsaved about what Jesus did.

I don't know about the demon baby part, I think the movie was trying to portray something creepy and demonic. Horror movies love to use a baby crying in the back ground to give it some scary ambiance. That was what was great about it though. The move showed what was really behind the scenes.

As for the form the devil used, it could have been anything as the angels of God can assume human form.

The strength from Mary part, I can look at it many ways. Did they glorify Marry and her super powers? Am I looking for something to find fault with because I don't believe the way Catholics do? was Jesus in such a state, that he looked toward his mother for some comfort?
Before this happened, Jesus was in a great amount of stress in the garden. Even to the point of sweating blood.

I am looking at the heart in which this move was done, and I don't see any blatant attempt to distort the truth.

We don't know. Mary stuck with him until the end, like any mother that loved God would have (In the movie). We were not there, and I am sure it would have been even harder to watch if we were.

God Bless you Sister and all that have watched this wonderful movie.

Sure kids can watch it, seeing light of the world dying for their sins isnt bad.

If I couldn't watch the blood, I wouldn't let a young child sit through the whole thing. It was rated R for reason. The old Ressurection Movies are not as violent so I'll quicker let a child watch those. We're adults we need to see dramatic things to get the message, an innocent child doesn't need a graphic reminder like that.

Child like faith is so pure.

Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me. Matt 18:3-5

that's true. I was thinking more of teenagers and not very little childs.
some kids have seen alot of worse than that movie...

If they were a victim of abuse, or witness a murder..yeah they have seen worse.
The appropriate age maybe 15/16, then I guess it would depend on the childs personality.

I loved the movie. I do agree some things were done in artistic freedom (or however they call it), but nothing to write off the movie itself. Overall, I'm confident that many people were touched by the movie and saved. What more can you ask for?

GOD bless

As I recall, the movie was rated PG-13 (Parental Guidance for 13 yrs old and above) in the USA. No one can say they were never forewarned about the bloody scenes. I was deeply moved by this film. It gave me a much deeper appreciation of what Jesus went through for me.

Actual The Passion of Christ top number 9 out of 15 for the most violent movies ever made on Enternainment Weekly. The movie Saw was no. 8...The violence alone made it R.

9. The passion of Christ

Talk about long, endless scenes of violence: The movie itself was one long violent scene. Great film, but to this day I still can not sit down and watch it. — Entertainment weekly

It beat silence of the lamb, Hannibal, Seven and Saving Private Ryan.
