The sad tale of Solomon

King Solomon, was the son of King David.

David had an affair with a woman named Bathsheba, and had her husband killed. 2Sam 11:15;
Bathsheba got pregnant and God took the life of this baby.

A little later David repented (Psalms 51 )and married Bathsheba. She got pregnant again.
This baby was Solomon.

The Bible says God loved Solomon. 2Sam 12:24;

And for a while it seemed Solomon loved the Lord. 1Kings 3:3;

The Bible says Solomon was one of the wisest men that ever lived. 1Kings 4:29-31;

Solomon wrote (at least most of) 3 books in the Bible. The Song of Solomon, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes.

..and yet despite all of this, at the end of his life, Solomon turned away from God and went after other Gods. 1Kings 11:2-4;

the moral of the story here is.. wisdom alone won't keep us from falling.
 
Wisdom and knowledge both wont keep us from falling. What keeps us from falling is loving the Lord more than the pleasures of this world and loving our fellow humans just as God does.

And what should we do with this, cast it away? And I thought Jesus was the "wisdom of GOD" and Scripture cannot be broken.

This is the end of the matter; all hath been heard: fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man.

For I have stood here like a tree planted by the rivers of waters since the 1st time i read these portions of Scriptures in t977. And I believe these with all of my heart soul, mind and strength. Big Time!

I can tell i am not a christian. My believeth are different and practices are not same as most of those i have met. And others have said:. "You are different" from the christians i have met. My reply : I am not a christian, that is why.

we are not christians, we are set aside for the delight of the lord, simple as that. There are many more like me, they just dont mix with christians so they go under the radar. we are a strange peculiar people, who are prone to percieved to do odd things by worldly standards.

Thank you for turning my mind to Solomon.

Reading, I see that even before God visited Solomon for the first time as King, Solomon had already taken one of Pharaoh's daughters as a wife, so the potential for adverse influence was already there, in his home and in his heart. I wanted to see again what was said concerning his fall, and the reasons for it, and so looked up the reference you gave to 1 Kings 11.

'But king Solomon loved many strange women,
.. together with the daughter of Pharaoh,
.... women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;
...... Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel,
........ Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you:
.......... for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods:
Solomon clave unto these in love.'
(1 Kings 11:1-2)

* Look at the words in that last line, 'Solomon clave unto these in love'. The word 'cleave' means to cling, like ivy to a tree, so that it becomes one with the tree.

' For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;
And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.'
(Mark 10:7)

'Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; Him shalt thou serve,
and to Him shalt thou cleave, and swear by His name.'
(Deuteronomy 10:20)

and his wives turned away his heart.
For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods:
and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.'

and what communion hath light with darkness?

'But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus,
Who of God is made unto us -
.. wisdom,
.... and righteousness,
...... and sanctification,
........ and redemption:
That, according as it is written,
he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.'

In relation to your last line:- 'wisdom won't keep you from falling' my mind went to 1 Corinthians 1:30: for God has placed us in Christ Jesus, and He, of God, is made unto us - 'wisdom'. and 'righteousness' and 'sanctification' and 'redemption'. in order that the flesh will have nothing to glory in, for it is God alone 'in Christ' that we are to glory in, isn't it? - Praise His Holy Name!

* Yes, we have nothing to boast of in the flesh, where the things of the spirit are concerned, do we? As it says in Ephesians 2:8-10 concerning salvation:-

'For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
For we are His workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus unto good works,
which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.'

* There is no place for spiritual pride is there?

'Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling,
and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,
To the only wise God our Saviour,
be glory and majesty, dominion and power,
both now and ever. Amen.'
(Jude 1:24-25)
