The Sin of Worldliness

[h=1]Jesus said love not the world
nor the things of it
but to love the Lord your God
with all heart soul and mind never to quit[/h]
Today we live where worldly thought
has overtaken our mind and will
even in the church it's influenced
has put spiritual life in auto kill

John's words come back to haunt us
if anyone has the world as first love
the fathers love is not in him
for God's love came down from above

The world is to be left at the cross
our desire is to be for God alone
on the final day it will all perish
for to heaven His elect will be flown

So let's give the Lord
His biblical and rightful place
leave the world to it's destruction
following Jesus and His marvellous grace
