The Throne Room Of God - Message #387 - December 04, 2005
One of the most popular programs on television is the X-Files. It is a show about the possibilities of extraterrestrial life. During the opening of the show you see these bold words across the starlit sky: "The truth is out there."
Yes, the truth is out there alright. He is God. Greater reverence for the God of the universe is in order. This is part of the message of the last book of the Bible, the book of Revelation. In Chapter 4 we have a vision of the throne of God. The One who sits on the throne is not identified or described. We know who He is. Lightning comes from the throne. Thunder is in the background.
A great emerald rainbow surrounds the throne. It reminds us of God's promise not to destroy the earth with a flood. There are seven great lights or torches around the throne. They represent the perfect Spirit of God who is true light. There are four awesome living creatures, angels with six wings, who continuously sing, "Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God, the Almighty." There is another rank of twenty-four angels. These are the powers and authorities of heaven. The throne sits on a massive sea of glass, calm and sedate.
God is in perfect control of His universe. He sits as King. His rule will never end. Life is secure. Where God reigns supreme, He brings peace. When God reigns in our hearts, He brings peace.
