THE TRUE MEANING OF AMEN:
One day God took Abraham outside his tent & told him,“Look towards the heavens and see if you can count the stars there. That’s how many descendants you're going to have”(Genesis 15:5).At that time Abraham didn’t even have one child. There r millions of stars in the sky.And it says that Abraham believed the Lord (Genesis 15:6).The word ‘believe’ there in the original Hebrew is ‘AMAN’from which we get the English word ‘AMEN’ which means ‘I believe that it will be so.’So when God told Abraham that his seed would be like the stars of heaven,Abraham just said,“Amen=I believe it will be so” That’s it.And it was fulfilled.Today, the children of Abraham (physically & spiritually)number in millions.

Faith means saying“Amen” when God has said something to you.Faith is always based on the word of God.“Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God’ (Rom.10:17).You can’t have faith,if you don’t listen to God.Abraham heard God first. Then he said “Amen”.Nowadays,I find many believers saying that they have faith for things about which God has said nothing. They say:“I have faith that God will give me a Mercedez-Benz car.And I believe it’s going to be black in colour.”That’s not faith. That is presumption. It is tempting God.Faith can be born only after hearing God speaking to us first.Only then can we say,“Amen=It shall be so.”If you remember this, you will be saved from presumption and from counterfeit faith.
Faith begins with God’s promise & not with our desires. That which begins with our own desires will only lead to Babylon. What begins with God will lead to Jerusalem.Once God has spoken,we must keep on saying,“Amen”to it,all through our life,no matter how long God takes to fulfill His Word. But in Genesis 16,we read that Sarah was impatient. She suggested to Abraham to have children through Hagar, her maid (Gen.16:2).What did Abraham do then?unfortunately he said,“Amen”,to Sarah too. That caused a problem for Abraham’s descendants that have now lasted for 4000 years.
never say Amen to man's word

What a wonderful message brother Suresh, thank you so much for sharing it.

I especially loved this part:

Faith can be born only after hearing God speaking to us first.Only then can we say,“Amen=It shall be so.”If you remember this, you will be saved from presumption and from counterfeit faith.

God bless
Much love

There is nothing I can find in genesis 15.5-6 that says abraham said aman.

I have found out something online about the word amen.

Definition: Amen is an exclamation expressing agreement with a statement. At the end of a prayer it expresses the genuineness of the petition.

Amen! - The word that ends a prayer

There's a word at the end of every prayer, the word "Amen". Where did this word come from, why do we say it, and what does it mean?

The Origin of the Word 'Amen'

The word 'Amen' makes its first appearance in the Bible under the most solemn circumstances. When a husband accused his wife of adultery, and she protested her innocence, and she had not been caught in the act, the matter was settled by God under the test of bitter water (Num 5:12-31). The woman was taken to the priest, and the priest put her under oath. She submitted to a ceremony in which she drank some water containing dust from the tabernacle floor. If she had committed adultery, she was be cursed with a wasting disease, but if she did not get sick, then she was proven innocent and her husband was proven wrong.

During the ceremony, when the priest pronounced the curse, the woman was required by God to say, "Amen, Amen". (Num 5:22). That is the first occurrence of the word in scripture. The Lord commands it to be said by a person who is yielding herself to examination by him in his presence.

The word 'Amen' probably goes back a long way. Some think it is of pagan origin (there was an Egyptian god called Amen-Ra). Perhaps that ancient usage reflects an even earlier existence of the word. As to its use in the Bible, however, we first encounter the word in this commandment spoken by the Lord (Num 5:22).

Why do we say amen?

What does amen mean?

never say Amen to man's word

Yes, 'aman comes up from the primitive root, yaman, which means 'to be physically firm'.

So it means exactly what you said, not as a passive acceptance, but as a firm belief that it will be so.

Such a belief moves us to act accordingly, which Abram did act accordingly but perhaps (and I mean only perhaps) for that one moment he hearkened to the voice of Sarai. Genesis 16:2

I say only perhaps as to Abram's hearkening to Sarai's voice because Abram may not have been sure that was not what God intended.

It was afterward that God told him: Genesis 15:4 "And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir."

It seems that God allowed this to play out so that it would be clear that his promises would be of his choosing rather than by man's trying to cause it to themselves: Romans 9:11

That way it remains clear that God gets the credit for it and not we.

I liked this post because as I speak Arabic language which is from the same origin of Hebrew one (semistics) I used to say Amen which means AMAN=It shall be so in Arabic as well. Thanks a lot for your share and I will translate it into Arabic language and post it in my Facebook page and christian groups.
