Rev 22:17 . .The Spirit and the bride say: Come, and let him who hears say:
Come. Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free
gift of the water of life.

Let's say a secular person, having no preconceived concepts of either Christianity or
Judaism, reads the book of Revelation and finds that verse. How are they supposed
to respond to the invitation? Where would a sincere inquirer go to even find this so
called water of life, let alone imbibe it?

Well; were the secular reader keenly attuned to the book of Revelation, they
would've noted back in the first verse of chapter 22 that the water of life isn't
located anywhere on Earth; which makes it even more difficult to access than that
of Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade.

Rev 22:17 . .The Spirit and the bride say "Come" and let him who hears say
"Come". Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the
free gift of the water of life.

That passage contains instructions for "him who hears" so then I think we can
safely assume that when him who hears invites someone to come and take the
water of life; they're supposed to be capable of explaining how to go about it so the
inquirer isn't left flapping in the wind trying to figure it out on their own.

In the fourth chapter of John's gospel is an incident wherein Jesus discussed a living
water. I don't know for sure if the living water and the water of life are the same
water but if they are, then it's available on request, as it should be: after all; it's a
free gift.

John 4:10 . . If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink,
you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.

Rev 22:1-2a . . Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear
as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the
great street of the city.

I think we may safely assume that the flow of this particular river will never be in
danger of drought; but will remain a source of life for just as long as the throne of
God exists; which of course it always has, it always is, and it always will be to time
without end.

Now; when Adam was created, he was given the breath of life; but not the water of
life. The breath of life enabled him to become sentient, but not everlasting. In point
of fact, the breath of life didn't even make Adam immune to death. Obviously then;
the quality of the water of life is quite a bit superior to the breath of life; and also
superior to the tree of life too which, as it turns out, is merely a remedy for
whatever ails you; including, apparently, the aging process. (Rev 22:2b)

FAQ: Will the water of life make me look younger?

REPLY: No.

FAQ: Will the water of life lock me into my present age?

REPLY: No.

FAQ: Will the water of life make me immortal?

REPLY: No.

FAQ: But didn't Jesus associate living water with eternal life at John 4:14?

REPLY: Immortality and eternal life are not the same. The first pertains to death
and the aging process, the second pertains to the core of God's being, viz: His
divine nature.

Just think what a tremendous advantage it would be to go into eternity with divine
nature at the core of our being instead of human nature.

2Pet 1:4 . . He has given us his very great and precious promises, so that
through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in
the world caused by evil desires.

The Holy Spirit would do his job and convict the reader as always.

I remember my mom would get scared to death hearing about the beast rising out of the sea. Unlearned and new to hearing it,all she could picture was a sea monster. But fear brings us to the Lord. The Spirit will use that fear or whatever is at his disposal.
A native in the deepest jungle never seeing a bible or hearing a preacher is convicted by the Holy Spirit.
My tiny thought anyway

I would offer the "let he who ears to hear come" Would be a good place to begin It is used to introduce a parables.

God giving us ears to hear his interpretation We already know the whole chapter called a book (Revelation) is signified set forth as a parable according to verse 1 chapter 1 the kind of understanding right from the start .

Searching the scriptures. In Deuteronomy we find the doctrine of the work of the Holy Spirit inspired from above coming down like rain causing born again growth .

God using different forms of living water to represent the gospel . In that way the water of the word washing away sin Just as Christ loved the church so us husband also wash our wives with all of the doctrines that fall like rain

Deuteronomy32:1-2 Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.
My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass

Ephesians 5:25-27King James Version2 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish
