Jesus’ Last Command:- Matthew 28:19- “Go and make disciples of all nations.”

-As J. Hudson Taylor, once pointed out, “The Great Commission is not an option to be considered; it is a command to be obeyed.”
-There are numerous ways each of us can participate in God’s plan to take the Gospel to all people groups.

Here Are Some Ideas for How you Might get Involved in Missions:

• Prayer
 Pray for God to send out workers into the harvest.
 Pray through any mission related magazine or newsletters.
 Become involved in God’s work in other places through prayer.
 Pray that hearts would be open and receptive to the Gospel message.
 Pray for protection for Christians, especially in locations where Christians are persecuted.

• Sending
 Support a missionary with a monthly pledge.
 Contact the missionaries and ask if they have any special needs. Then give.
 Write an encouraging message to a missionary.

• Going
 Talk with the church elders and the pastor about your desire to serve as a missionary.
 Become a “tentmaker,” using your professional skills to gain access to another country.
 Go on one of the short-term “vision trips” that your church can offer.
 Become a missionary parent for missionary kids, or run a mission home.

• Encouraging
 Write an email or send a message to missionaries in the mission fields to encourage them in their ministry.
• Giving
 Get involved in missions by financially supporting the missionaries.
• Sharing
 Tell others about what God is doing around the world and encourage them to get involved too!

Jesus was giving the disciples instructions, not the whole world. Just because something is mentioned in scripture as a point in history, does not mean it is for everyone or even continues

Thank you lentz for your comment! Yes it may not be the whole world but for every believer should pray for unreached people to reach with the Gospel.

Jesus was giving the Disciples, and by inference to all future disciples what many including me, believe is Jesus's 2nd commandment, rather than a piece of casual advice that you can choose to accept or ignore. Yes, Jesus was talking to you, Tun Lin and me. This is His desire, that you tell as many people as you can of the love of God and the great salvation He freely gave you, how He's with you always and everywhere, the many gifts and blessing He's given you - not least of which, His Holy Spirit and your bright everlasting future in Heaven in which you become Jesus's younger brother. Given that's what Jesus has asked you to do, and you say that you love Him, why wouldn't you want to share this with as many people as you can, especially when He tells you that there's a party in Heaven for every soul that repents and accepts Jesus Luke 15:7?

There's a flip side to all that. What happens to those who don't accept Jesus's salvation. It's so horrific, I don't even want to think about it. Bad enough for those who reject Jesus but what about those who poor people abstain through ignorance?

That's why Jesus gave you that commandment, He knows that His father does not want anyone to perish 2 Peter 3:8.

I respect your belief Andy, but the only instruction the scripture gives to layman Christians referring to witnessing,is to live a Godly life for all to see. Preaching from rooftops and knocking on doors has little to no effect. The world watches how you live your life day to day,in public as well as in a church house

There are the lost in our on homes, family,on our street,in our neighborhood,in our town,county,state.country. Look the protests and turmoil. I feel God has given us a great work here. No need to send you around the globe. God is not inept, there are witnesses and evangelists in those countries. No need to worry.

Greetings,

Do we consider when collection was taken for the saints in Jerusalem?
Or perhaps the hungry multitude?

Some land is prepared well for sowing, some for harvest.

-----

I do not believe that either @Tun Lin or @Andyindauk were advocating forsaking the fields around us.

We do well to ask ourselves if we are His laborers, His servants, His friends, His lights.

Jesus is the Lord

Bless you all ....><>

Hi Lentz,

Re-read OP. @Tun Lin suggests 4 ways that you can support the world wide proclamation of the Gospel. Only one of which involves getting off your butt. The other three you can do from the comfort of your sofa.

There's clearly a much greater appetite for the Gospel in the 3rd world than in countries like USA and UK. I read regularly in here, posts from American members, decrying the state of churches there, complaining they ain't even worth getting up for on a Sunday morning. So yes, you're right, there's plenty to pray for there.

But that doesn't prevent you from praying for, giving to and encouraging the churches in third world countries.

I support Tun Lin's work. He runs a church in Yangon in Myanmar, formerly Burma. He in turn supports 6 other churches dotted around Myanmar and he's fostered 7 children whose parents have been martyred by the State in crackdowns by the military.

Reach out to him. He's doing an amazing work in an incredibly difficult situation.

We chat almost daily via WhatsApp.

There's no greater mission field than that which is around us. America is a tough one because there are so many high-profile bad prosperity preachers around - their corruption is exposed daily. Even the ones that are perceived as 'good preachers' have offended many.

The relevant Bible verse is -

He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Luke 24:46-47.

We're not called to be parochial, we start where we are, in their case, Jerusalem, and work our way outwards, expanding our horizons. How do you think the Gospel reached the USA?

What I'm even more passionate about is supporting our destitute brothers and sisters in third world countries. If you're in obedience to Jesus's commandment in John 13:34, the fact that they are domiciled in a far off country is totally irrelevant. There's members of your extended family, brothers and sisters out there, that have no food and are suffering from severe malnutrition.

Have a heart: pray for them, give financially and encourage them. I promise you; that's what Jesus was referring to when He said, 'Build up treasure in Heaven.'

The gospel has been preached to all nations starting at Jerusalem.
Then to Samaria, then Phillip to the Ethiopian,Peter went to Babylon, Paul to Europe, etc.
Every country in the world now have their own evangelists like your friend in Myanmar.

My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.

Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.

Many go when they wanna go n where they wanna go..

To this John replied, “A person can receive only what is given them from heaven.

Sorry Twistie, I'm not sure what you're trying to say or the relevance of the verses to topic you've quoted?

Peep do what they want when they want how they want.. they go out with out being sent.... Many throw their pearls don't give it a second thought..

Many fail to realize we only get what YH gives...

I wouldn’t mind giving to certain causes if I were sure where the money went.

Take all of these “only 19.00 a month charities….
Their CEOs and management as well as workers have to be paid.
Producing all those tv commercials are not free. Paying for commercials to be made must be expensive.
Airtime over 500 channels 20 times a day is enormous,
By the time my little 19.00 get ran through the strainer, maybe 3 cents actually goes to the cause.
If I see a family in need on my street, every penny goes to them.
