Hello folks,

My name is Mark and I live in Scotland.

Have been signed up to the site for a while and enjoyed reading the topics but thought I'd start getting involved in speaking to others seeing as we share the most important thing in our lives... our faith in Christ!

Have been going through serious personal struggles ever since I was a young child and now at the age of 33, being a relatively new follower of Christ, am starting to see some hope of being delivered.

I'm a musician and grateful to the Lord for the gift of music, and currently desperately trying to let go of all the things of the world and evil that have bound me for so long.

Hope to meet some new friends as I'm very alone, very little fellowship in my life and no one I know personally (except those I've met at church,) are believers.

Greetings Mark,

where in sunny Scotland are you from?
I know a few fine folk up north.

Music is enjoyable, what music do you play? (if you do, of course)

Brother, as His Child, your struggles are no longer 'personal' but things He is deeply wanting you to share with Him and trust Him to deliver you through and from.
Childhood in this dark world is for many, very difficult.
Remember we have been adopted into His family and the 'death of the grain' is past and New Life is now the glory we share in.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Romans 8:14-15

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11

Jesus is Lord

Bless you ....><>

Thank you @Br. Bear .
Probably best not to mention specifically? Central Scotland, Tayside. I have family up North it's really nice up the North of Scotland I'm sure you know.

The last time I played was the drums in church before the lockdown hit, a bit of guitar at home since then but I am currently not playing at all unfortunately.
I've written a few songs glorifying the name of the Lord and that's the only kind of music I'm interested in listening to or playing anymore. Used to be big into rock and all kinds of music but lost interest completely.

Thank you, appreciate that. I do trust Him, have been carrying around a lot of pain for a long time and starting to truly learn He is the only one who can truly help. Still feel like I'm going through the process of sanctification, have messed up, fallen but gotten back up again and growing in the faith, learning a lot!

Childhood was difficult, quite dark actually at times and traumatized me. I'm so thankful the Lord has intervened in my life because I've no idea where I'd be without him, I just know it wouldn't be anywhere good after everything the world and the enemy has thrown at me continually since such a young age.

I honestly feel that it makes it so much harder to make friends, even in church because of how screwed up I am lol!

Thanks again :)

because of how screwed up I am

no Brother.... we have to look from our Father's perspective as that is the only truth that is true!

round Pheairt way, hey.

you could look up Rev Paul Gibson from Knox. Remember walking out with him [before he moved south] when he 'resigned' from a position due to issues the church of Scotland were not wanting to properly address regarding adam and steve relationships in the 'eldership'. That was over ten years ago and unless he's changed, he's someone i can recommend to anyone who could do with a gentle and caring couple of ears and honest friendship in Christ. He's a Free Church man.

The Lord is good, He remembers who we are. Remember that nothing takes Him by surprise. Little children always fall a few times but are never cast down.

Grace and Peace

Jesus is Lord

That's interesting, I've been wondering and hoping that there may be another church to go to. I looked up and the church isn't too far away so I might just go there on Sunday. The Lord seems to answer prayers in the most unexpected ways!

I went to a church of Scotland church a couple of years ago and something didn't feel right, much like the church I've been to recently. Although I realise this could be my anxiety and impatience, but something definitely feels off and I can't quite put my finger on it.

Appreciate the words of wisdom. Need to keep in mind what you said, thank you.

Hello Mark. Looking forward to your posts. I'd love to hear some of your music.

and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge Him,

Hello Mark,

It is good to hear from you. Thank you for sharing something about yourself. :)

I live in Wales by the way. I am 74yrs old now, and came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as my Saviour, way back in 1960. He is my Saviour, Lord and Head, and I rejoice in Him and Him alone. We are His workmanship, and He is working in us, both to will and to do of His good pleasure. He is conforming us to the image of His Son. Praise God!

As I get older I realise what a blessing it is to have a longer retrospective view of my life, for looking back I can see the way that He has led me, and the way that He has kept me, and rescued me, comforted, corrected and upheld me for all these years. What a cause of rejoicing it is! The milestones along the way are marked by lessons learned, and the one outstanding one for me, is the realisation that I am complete in Christ Jesus, and accepted in the Beloved, and that I stand before God the Father, in His Son, as one who is spotless and without blame (Ephesians 1), because His righteousness has been imputed to me, and I can walk in the light as He is in the light and rejoice in the freedom whereby He has made me free.

Trust Him, wholeheartedly, Mark,
and rest in His love.
For He is Faithful, and will do it.
All your needs will be met in Him.

With love in Christ Jesus
Our risen and glorified
Saviour, Lord and Head.
Chris

Hi @complete

Thanks very much, appreciate it!

Wales looks really great especially in the country and hills, similar to Scotland in some ways it seems.

It's like I was expecting something different when I first became a believer, it's been a journey of non stop learning, and unfortunately a lot of mistakes still.
Feeling more convicted as I go and learning so much about the Lord, myself, others, life, was not expecting what seems a never ending but amazing process.

Was there a point where you finally built up the faith you needed to overcome the strongholds in your life? That's what I'm constantly thinking of at the moment and feel that's what He's working me towards.

I'll have a listen to the song, have you heard the band Celtic Worship before? with the singer Steph Macleod? I'll share a link.

Hello @TheLivingStone,

I believe the answer to that is found in Romans 6:11-14

' Likewise reckon ye also yourselves
.. to be dead indeed unto sin,
.... but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body,
.. that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
.... Neither yield ye your members
...... as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin:
but yield yourselves unto God,
.. as those that are alive from the dead,
.... and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
...... For sin shall not have dominion over you:
........ for ye are not under the law, but under grace.'

The answer is in the word - 'reckoning'. The reckoning of Faith. Reckoning yourself to be dead indeed unto sin - (regardless of what you see, hear or feel) - but alive unto God. For when the Lord Jesus Christ died, we died, 'in Him'; when He was buried, quickened, and raised from the dead, so did we; and when He ascended up through the heavens to God's right hand, so did we. This is God's reckoning of faith. and when Christ, Who is our life shall appear, then shall we also appear there with Him in glory (Colossians 3:4)

We are 'in Christ'. His righteousness has been imputed to us, and we now stand before God as those who have been declared 'not guilty'. Holy and without blemish: because of what Christ Jesus our Lord has done for us. We can now rise up and walk in newness of life, knowing that our standing before God is sure. We are 'Complete' in Christ, and 'Accepted' in the Beloved;. We now live believing this fact to be true, regardless of our failures, looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith, We are His workmanship and the work He has begun in us He will continue to do until the day of Christ.

This is what it means to walk by faith and not by sight. So that we can live our lives in wonder, love and praise, no matter what the circumstances, or the evidence of our own eyes. For we are trusting God to keep His word, and He is not man that He should lie.

'Whoso offereth praise glorifieth Me.'

Thank you
in Christ Jesus
Chris
